Very similar to my previous 66 with Daves 295 kre heads and stump puller cam. Let me check time slips and will let you know what I ran

What cam is in it? I'm thinking should pretty damn good. Have a 462 in the 69 GTO with 3.08s and TH400. Small HFT .480ish lift, don't remember the duration. Made a few passes early last year and the track was slick. Still managed low 13s at 104mph. Pretty sure my car will run in the 12s?

If your not lighting fast at shifting that 4 speed your going to be depressed by your track times if you go!
Even with 3.42 rear gears you will likely find that you will not use 4th gear.

and lets not forget....if your running the 1/8 mile...your feeling will surely be hurt getting the 4 speed out of the hole without roasting the tires.....and running the 1/8....its all about getting out of the hole. 25 yes ago my old 400 bird would run 8.0's at 96 mph in the 1/8 with the th400 barely hooking up...When I put in the M21 that went to 8.45 at 90 mph. You can't afford it to dead hook....but you can't roast the hides either. The 1/4 lets you use some of the power to run out the back door.

Could not find my old time slips, but seems I was running mid 12s and mid to high teens for mph while going easy on the clutch with slicks so had slow 0-60 times . 3.31 gears and full clutch shifting.

I hope this does not take place when you go, but if it’s more then a 1 hour drive to the track then have some pre made plans in place for someone to pick you up should you break something in the drivetrain.
First times out are when most folks find where there weak link is even without running slicks!

I'd say mid 13's, if you can get traction. 4 speed cars and street tires don't get out of the hole very well.

My friend with the pure stock Firebird runs well into the 12’s at 112-115mph on redlines I’m thinking you will be about the same. He’s running a 400-4speed

My old 409 in '72 ran 12.20s @ 108 class win at IHRA Longhorn Nationals-4 speed but had 4.56s(gas was cheap back then) Flowed the heads a few years ago(still had them a) and only 260 cfm but a big solid cam. 3860 lbs. I think the 15 lb Hays flywheel kept me from breaking too much drivetrain with the 5000 rpm
launches

You where still running high compression back then though, right skip?
Was that W the 11 to 1 409 motor? Even if your valve lift you ran was only allowing 240 intake cfm , that in conjunction with the high compression was likely making for another 30 to 40 hp over what the OP will make.

I’d say it Should run 11.90s to 12.teens. But this is with really taking some time to drive it down there getting shift points right etc. Don’t have compression but cams have gotten better for lower comp. and you’ve got a lot of cubes.
Having the tube right will make that number move too. Rubbing it fat, lazy and safe on the tube will make it slower but love longer. Running it in the lean end will produce more power but all bets are off for longevity Remember 1 tenth up front is 3 tenths out back on the 1/4 mile. Sounds like a nice combo but w that gear and not taking it up the track all the time to whittle down the times it’ll likely run 13.20 to 13.45 That’s my prediction Sounds like a nice car, fun from Light to light on the street or from a roll, but a drag car it isn’t. . Didn’t see the trans type but saw a M21 mentioned .for drag raving that’s a paperweight Put a Jericho and 9 inch w some gear in that car and launch it at 6000 w a slipper clutch on slicks and it’ll be a low to mid 11s car But it won’t be a real driver anymore .

Yeah, back when I still street drove my car with similar power, and a Muncie transport, the best so did was mid 13’s on street tires. Never ran slicks because I knew it would break something.
I switched it to a T-400 and ran mid 12’s first day. I eventually got it into high 11’s around 110 MPH.

When taking my 66 gto/muncie to the track on occasion, it was no fun on street tires. A 16 year old girl driving a newer Ford Focus beat me to the 1/8 because I had zero traction, and I finally took over the Focus on the top end. However it made her day, she was soooo excited she almost beat a GTO lol.
Before bolting on the slicks I added upgraded axles to the 12 bolt, and rebuilt the muncie with a steel case and bell housing. Might have been overkill for what I was doing, but did not want to leave a pile of parts and oil on the track. While I could now get consistent traction and reasonable ET, the clutch was the weak point and started burning. Instead of upgrading that I sold the car as a street driver and ultimately built the 68 firebird more geared towards strip with occasional street vs the other way around. I certainly encourage all takers to get out to support their local strip, but can be frustrating when people bring their untested cars (or junk) to the track and cause constant oil downs and the rest of us get 2 runs in by end of day Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
