looking at getting a 68 400 from a catilena for my 73 lemans ,maybe adding headers and a performer intake and a q-jet would this be a decent cam to fend off the rice with ?

DESCRIPTION:
Hydraulic, Good Idle. Has very good mid-range torque for daily performance usage.
RPM Range: 1600-5600
@.050" IN/EXH: 225/225 deg
@Valve IN/EXH: .447" / .447"
@Lobe Sep: 108deg

I never had good results with a single pattern cam on stock heads. 108° doesn't sound good either for a Pontiac.
Need to know more about the '68 catalina engine (low/hi compression, 2bbl or 4bbl) and if you are going to completely rebuild it.

yea it was a 2 brl ,and yes i'm going to re ring it its only got 80,000 miles on it

Those would be small valve heads. Could be either low or high compression. I think A/C cars usually got high compression heads in '68. If you want a budget daily driver re-ring ang go. If you want more performance, there are better head selections. If post in the "drivetrain street" section many people will offer suggestions.

I think you will also need adapters to mount a 68 block in a 73-77 frame, but they aren't expensive.

nope they have no.16 heads on em so there the big valve heads with screw in studs
