We ran a best of 13.14 @ 106.97 at Etown

Car:
2004 GTO
Bone stock - M6
3870 # with driver

Wheel hop is terrible....working on that

The 'clunk' you 'hear' is the stock EXHAUST hitting the rear-most mount...not wheel-hop. Expect a recall on this for sure - We took the rear tailpipe off, it was so annoying!

What no comments from any of the haters of this new GTO. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I'm shocked.

Did they say what kind of 60 ft times they are getting?

I emailed SLP for more info. Hopefully they will respond.

What great news....semi fast and falling apart... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

It isn't a safety issue danny. You should learn what is and isn't recalled. There will probably be a TSB on it though for a fix, but it won't be recalled.

LOL!!!!! Why don't you go over to the Mustang boards. You will feel much more comfortable over there, and more welcomed. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

And now it's semi fast! LOL!!!!

Nick, I must admit, it's getting closer to the stock Mustangs.... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

SLP response to questions about 60' times, weight reduction. This is good to know. Now I;m even more confident I can get mine into the 12's. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

quote:
Tires made no difference at all (we tried both radials and drag radials) - because of the wheel hop, all we could do was slip the clutch or dog it off the line. ANY attempt to dump the clutch under power resulted in massive wheel hop. We even had wheel hop 1-2 AND 2-3, car was power shifted always. 60 fts were consistently 2.0s, no sub 2.0s. I can promise you, the car would have run 12.90s if we could have launched it right.

Car was STOCK, we took the tailpipe off because it hit the frame (but the mufflers remained) - no weight reduction (1/4-1/8 tank of gas). Didn't even take the floor mats out, and had some camera gear in the back.

The air was great - I was there with GMHTP who had a stock '04 ZO6 - it ran 11.97......on street tires the same day.

thanks

Are you implying the GTO's that are running these times, including mine are not stock? Ok..... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

these times

These times? Stock 13's, but not stock 12's, the time line has to be drawn somewhere.... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

huh?

You make no sense. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Get over it Danny, The 2004 GTO is faster than you thought and you can't stand it. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Just admit it. It's the fastest GTO ever to come out of the factory, including the RAM IV GTO's. Period.

I was wondering if they were having wheel hop problems too.If they are like the cobras you better let off as soon as you feel it hop or else it will snap the halfshaft.Seen quite a few cobras snap them even stock. So far it looks like the fix for cobras is to change out the rubber irs bushings for stiffer ones and drag shocks.Still alot of guys are going to straight axle.Nick, did you get any hop in yours and what was your 60 ft time.Mine were 2.0s and one 1.9. Sounds like some getting use to the car and you should be in the 12s with a 105 trap speed.

Nickv

Yes, there is some wheelhop. I found that If I slip the clutch quickly the wheelhop is still there, but not as bad as dumping the clutch! My 13.3 run had a 1.91 60' time. The 13.6 and 13.4 run had 2.0 2.1 60' times.

I really do believe I can break into the 12's with this car. SLP's 13.1 shows it's close.

The new GTO is faster than some people thought. I'm glad I have the 6 speed. It seems that A4 guys are not having good 1/4 mile times stock so far. Anywhere from 14.8 to 13.6. I'm sure alot of these guys are really pretty green when it comes to dragracing. Alot of people think it's just a matter of flooring the car and going. I've learned over the years it's a little more than that. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

This was first i'd raced in over ten years.Could have done a little better if i'd slipped the clutch.I dumped around 2000 and was getting some bog. Can't wait to see how the gto runs to mods.

Nick,

Don't worry about what dannyboy thinks. This new "GTO" won't live up to his standards. And frankly I don't give a sh!t. dannyboy has done nothing about complain about this new GTO. He was caught "trolling" on ls1gto.com.

P.S. I bet dannyboy is a mustang fan. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Another response from SLP about the 2004 GTO and weight.

quote:

I weigh 190 - better yet, one of the guys from GMHTP who weighs about 165 (steve baur) ran a 13.11

....remember, we weighed in on Englishtown's scale - it may not have been “perfect”. I should have weighed myself to see if it was accurate.

we have several new items in the works - I think you'll like what we are working on
