How much can be dished from a TRW/SpeedPro Forged piston?

No nitros or supercharger.

Looking to use 72 cc heads with a 400 block/455 crank.

When I built my 406, I used TRW 2262 pistons that were dished a total od 12 cc including valve relief. I used # 16 heads with 71 cc chambers. A compression calculator worked out a comp of 9.6 and the combination works great.

I think 0.100 deep 2.8 diameter was what HO used to do, maybe Ken will chime in

Minimum piston head thickness for a normally aspirated engine should be .125". Measure the current thickness and do the math. You'll need at least 20 CCs, and 24 would be better. A dish 3.25" in diameter and .180" deep will yield 24 1/2 CCs. The L2359F should accomidate that. NEVER assume. MEASURE....
