Need some help. I want to put a 350 mtr in a 66 catalina. I am pulling out the 389 mtr and tranny to rebuild complete and want to run a 350 until the 389 is ready. How hard is the change? Is there major modifications.

depending on the yr of the 350 it should be a drop in.

the big differences i see will be with mounts if it's a late style engine.

i assume you're talking a 350 pontiac and not a chevy / buick/olds?

if one of the above then it's a whole different ball game.

I have a older chevy 350. If it is not a easy retro I will go a different route. I want to be able to put the 389 back in later.

not easy with a 350 chevy into a full size pontiac, easier into an intermediate Pontiac body (A body)

b king, go to chevelle.com and do a search.
i just picked up a 70 lemans w/ a zz4 crate motor in it. previous owner used wrong motor mounts. my distributor was crammed against the firewall. headers were hitting lower a-frames.
tranny was crammed against floorboard.
don't know about chevy in a full size pontiac.
just my $.02.
