I was wondering if anyone has pic's of a cowl scoop on a 67 GTO. I just got one from Harwood. Needed to get room for a Victor, spacer and 1050. I need ideas on where to place it. Have two ideas.
1- keep the back of the scoop even with the back of the hood.
2- keep the back of the scoop a few inches from the windsheild overhanging the front cowl.
I like the first idea. Just have a tuff time making the decision. I will be sealing it off to the carb for true cowlinduction.
By the way I will be mounting on a lift off hood.
Thanks Mike S

I have seen a few cowl scoops on GTOs and they look pretty nice.

I would figure out a way to masking tape the scoop on to your hood
and try and open the hood. Sometimes the sccop looks great until it hits the windshield. Course if it is a drop on "pinned" hood then it is not an issue.

So you have a steel hood or a glass hood. How long is the cowl lip on the scoop and what is the height?

I am mounting the scoop to a lift off glass hood, so the winsheild isn't a problem. It has a 2" lip on the back and is 4" high. If I mount it even with the hood it will be about 6" from the windshield. I have it sitting on the hood now. The stock look is gone but not as bad as a forward scoop.

The scoop will work correctly (pulling windshield
air) if the lip is fairly close to the windshield.

How far does the lip extend over the cowl area of
the firewall where the fresh air for the interior is? That is where it will pick-up the air for the
engine.
