why wait for next year... 400hp is but mearly a few bolt-ons/ tweaks away, that most likely can be done without voiding warranty.

I will be taking mine to the track once Maple Grove opens. I'm confident I can get the car into the low 13's.

It's funny my 72 Lemans turned a best of 13.3@103 and everybody was given me kudo's on the times.

The new GTO 6speed was tested by MT at 13.6@104 and everyone says it's a lame time. It's still the fastest STOCK, I said STOCK GTO to date. And your right, When did 13's slips become lame? http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

13's is not all that fast imo, But to do it in somthing that has every thing these new cars have on em and still have warentes(sp?) is awsum. I took my 5000# truck to the track sat and with very bad traction it went 13.67 @ 103mph Like I said not super fast but Not a hole lot can hang with those times.
Nick any plans for mods?

next year if they come out with the 400 and make it look better and faster id drive that. but not the 04. no way im gonna brag on the 04 when it will lose ( assume the gto does 13.5 thats a fair estimation according to the mag results ranging from 13.6ish-14ish ) the evo 8 will do 13.4 and the sti is supposed to do 13.2 the neon is supposed to be around 13.6 as well but with 4 less cylinders and wrong wheel drive. does anyone else see a problem ? hello 4 more cylinders. the new gto shoudl beat the s*** out of these imports

http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif And how do you know it won't. Don't go by magazine times. There bogus most of the time, magazine racing is out. I go to drags all the time, including those great test and tune nights when the lanes are filled with imports.

I've have YET to see any Neon go better than 14.5 last year. There was a blue WRX STi at Cecil county last that was running a 13.6-7 So....

But you know, I don't care. I didn't buy this car to be a street racer, and I certainly didn't buy it for anyone on this board. I bought for me.

I've never seen a all stock front wheel drive ***** box neon run 13.6's. 14.0s to 14.2s are the norm and with some drag radials run high 13. Neon are large bags of *****, a throw away car after 50,000 miles.

Now were racing magazines!! Reminds of ls1.com. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I don't how many of you reguarly go to the strip on test and tunes nights. But I can assure you not many of these new so called rockets are turning the times you say they are.

one of the faster import I saw all of last year at MG, was a really nice RX7 Turbo he ran a best of 12.8 I raced him a few times, nice guy. There was a Red Evolution Lancer which ran 13.9-14.1 all day long. The fastest import was a 1970-72? Datsun coupe with a rotary and nitrous that was running very low 11's. Every other car besides those were running from 19 to high 14's.

Mustangs.. Hell not one was in the 13's. I'm talking the new Mustangs. There was Cobra, stock running a best of 13.2 against my 13.6 at the time. It's all about the driver, or those car are overhyped.

I pay no mind to magazine times. The real test is the track.

I'm by no means saying there are no fast imports, but stock they are not what you think they are. At least not in my area.

Nick, once you get some let us know. I'm very curious on what they will run - not counting magazine times.

2004 GTO A4 automatic - 13.19@105 - unfiltered cold air intake, Drag Radials.

Only two that I found so far from real owners. 6 speed should be a little quicker. I like the 13.19 time. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

lets call it 13 flat with a stick. thats a whole hell of a lot better then the 13.8ish that mags claim. i dont understand these mags want to brag on the new cars and yet dont want to fudge the numbers. i mean this is the same car running .5sh slower. makes no sense to make a car sound slower then it really is to me. i wont talk so much s*** on the 04 if theyll do 13 flat... but theyre still ugly

Well lets see, car mags are in the pocket of car makers. If there was ever any question, look at the Car and driver, and motor trend car of the year...A Friggin Toyota Pirus! How much do you think that cost Toyota? Now, look at the at January motor trend. They compared the Ford GT to the dodge viper, but intentionally reused the same test data on the Dodge viper that they had previously tested in other conditions. Right down to the 1000th of a second. Most of their head to head tests do their best job to show that two wonderful cars are dead even, and if they don't perform the same on the same day, they will use previously recorded info, that may or may not have been recorded in the same conditions to prove their point. No doubt that in some conditions, especially with bad air, and excessive wheel spin, a stock GTO can only muster 13.8ish. They will continue to use this number, unless comparing it to a faster car, and if they can get better times, they will use them. I read these magazines to stay current on what is coming out, but their opinions and performance numbers are so easily bought that they are practically useless. If GM ponies up more $, I have no doubt these mags can show sub 13.5. That is why you have to drive one to know for sure!

you got a good point. i wondered myself why a prius would get car of the year. i mean id rather drive a pinto. and they like to cover the bmw's,audi's..... and try to make it sound like a sports car. seriously why would i want to know the 1/4 mile times of these luxury cars ? i take back the pinto remark... make it a gremlin. or a geo metro running on 3 cylinders.

Especially on two separate and independent mag's, in the same year! These are supposed to be performance oriented car mags too, it's not like we're reading consumer reports or something! Oh well, that stunt pissed me off, but what are ya gonna.
