In 2003 Bruce's nemesis in BES Real Street was (the 2003 champion) Jamie Stanton. This 2000 Camaro beat up on Bruce pretty bad in 2003 winning almost every race and even collecting the Moroso $10,000 bonus check at the end of the year.
Things were a little different this year. (2004) The Camaro was repeatedly sent home by Bruce. The frustrated owners did everything they could to beat Bruce's Firebird. They couldn't.
Determined to beat the Firebird, they stepped up thier engine program and challenged Bruce to a best-out-of-three match race at Cecil County on 11/6. They drove from upstate NY to Maryland.
Bruce won all 3 with a string of 8.5 passes. The Camaro ran a best of 8.69. Both cars have the same cubic inch engine and weigh the same.
They said something about switching classes next year to avoid meeting up with that Pontiac.....

"Will Shot Rod magazine finally recognize this ?"

Don't know about that but I would think the mags would find his NSCA Championship more impressive than beating Stanton in a match race. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

"2004) The Camaro was repeatedly sent home by Bruce."

Everyone was repeatedly sent home by Bruce this year!!!! http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I was there, it was impressive and I did not even know that there was a grudge match going on. Had to be the longest day ever @ Cecil too, oildown after oildown, then breakage after breakage. I did make it to the final five for the street car shootout. Arrived @ noon, left @ 10PM and they still had not run the semi's.
Congrats Bruce!

PONTIAC DUDE, read the NSCA rules, Bruce is allowed to be 150 LBS lighter than the Chevrolet. (100 Lbs. for pontiac, and 50Lbs. for the pre-82 model year).
How would it have turned out if they did weigh the same? Just a thought. http://pysales.com/images/boxing.gif

They were both legal for the class and the Chevy got his a$$ handed to him...in convincing fashion.

OK DiamondJim.....I'm busted http://pysales.com/images/spank.gif......I gotta keep an eye on you Poncho guys. I really just needed to abuse Keefer a little bit, he doesn't get enough of that from Ray ya know.
I raced most of the NSCA races and hung out a little bit with Bruce and Jamie, and I gotta tell ya, Bruce is one of the nicest guys to talk to at the races and is VERY deserving of the championship. I know how hard he worked to earn it. ChebbyKen http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

You know me, I beat up on him every chance I get. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif He's been working so much lately, I haven't seen him much. And I lost track of "Babe du jour" a long time ago.
Tell Danee' howdy from me, and get that T/A going will ya? Ray needs a whoopin.
