I was checking JEGS website today just to see what price they had on BFG Drag Radials. For some reason, I decided to check another companies website and was surprised to see that BFG has now come out with a new drag radial. They are calling it the "G Force Drag Radial" and they say it comes in "Tread pattern 1" (new pattern) and in "Tread Pattern 2" (traditional pattern). I checked one website that says both tires are using a new rubber compound, but another website that says they are using the same rubber. I need to research it further. The new pattern is similar to MT Drag Radials.
Anyone know anything about this ?

unless there's something brand new, the G-Force drag radials are engineered for imported wrong-wheel-drive applications.

Hi Elmer,

Check the source; BF Goodrich (http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgapp/catalog/index.jsp). I see the g-Force radials listed under "Tuner" and "Sports Car"...

Also found the following article when searching on "drag radials":

BFGoodrich® Tires Renames Comp T/A® Drag Radial To g-Force™ T/A Drag Radial (http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/bfgapp/news/press_release/03232004A.jsp)

The other pattern "was" only available in the 18"+ size for RWD cars. A friend has had them for almost two years now, but remember that sidewall plays a big part of traction... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I've seen the 18" tread pattern on a vette and they looke more like the yokohama road race tire than m/t's to me.

The name change explains the add with Gutridge's car for the g-Force tire.

I asked about the G-Force when I bought my last set of BFG Drag radials and was told by either BFG or Discount Tire they were for Imports.

If you're looking for a good drag radial, you may want to look at the Mickey Thompson version.

I switched from BFG's to M/T's.
Picked up 1.2 in 60 ft'ers.
Had the same 60 ft'ers as my ET streets. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

And more to come this year. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
Looking to get 1.32 plus (or is it minus) 60 ft'ers out of them.

So far depending on the track. looks like I run them about 1.5 lbs lower then the BFG's.

Unless BFG <span class="ev_code_RED">gets with a new program,</span> they are gonna be museum pieces. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Seriously. Had to really work the car with the big motor and a stock chassis with BFG's. But with the M/T's...........
