That was pretty impressive. Don't get me wrong, I still hate Fords.

small tire, thats got to be all about a perfect chassis setup and less about the power it makes
thats pretty wild, accellerating that fast would probably give me a nosebleed

I raced street bandit on 10.5 tire for a couple of years, running mid to low 9 teens. And it is like driving on ice. 6's seem unreal. I still have my subscription to Race Pages and just recently got an issue, I will have to check this out, sounds down right scarry.

This is the quickest outlaw 10.5 pass, on W's. The true 10.5 guys are in the high 7's now.

The drag Radial guys are in the 7.60's @ 191

Correct and Lynch is using twin 88's. I was hoping Mark Micke would have been the first, he ran a few 7.0's at the final clash race this year in his front mount F-3r 67 camaro.

Scary fast for such a chassis. I wouldn't drive it.

MANY other cars wrecked that day, Orlando should have never let the cars on the track that day with the winds as they were... http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I personally know three others that lost cars that day due to the winds and track conditions...

I realize track and wind conditions played a part in Steves tragidy, however, these guys are just plain flying and pushing the limits of thier chassis. Hate to say it, but its only a matter of time!
Those times in that type car have upped the ante!

I relate the performance in this video, with this type of chassis, to those that have ran into the 9 second zone without so much as a roll bar.

The outlaw 10.5 cars have extremely expensive chromoly from the firewall back chassis, with funny car cages and double frame rails. No mild steel bracket race/prostreet "tub job", they're built like a jr promod .They usually aren't real heavy like some of the "street" class cars used to be.

And outlaw 10.5 can run 33 10.5 W, guys I know who run it use 14 inch rims!

Brian Baker

That's all fine and good, Joe.

I still wouldn't drive one of those things at 200 MPH.

To get an idea on where this class at Orlando has gone, it was only 2 or 3 years ago that Chris Little from Pasadena, MD won the event in a 1990 Mustang powered by a nitrous fed 406 Ford...running 8.60's. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_eek.gif

Well atleast lynch dumped the ladder bars this past winter, lol.

Outlaw 10.5 is a helluva lot safer than drag radial is right now, or even most true 10.5 cars, the fast guys cars leave like pro stockers. It really doesn't matter how safe or powerful the car is if it doesn't have a pilot who knows when its better to let off and coast thru.

FWIW most of the outlaw 10.5 guys I've talked to are using 15 in rims and the tires are about 12.5 - 13 in wide, they get approximately 6 passes out of a pair of tires before the sidewalls go away.

The funny thing is at least 4 of the cars at Orlando running 10.5 race at our local track with us in "Ops" (outlaw pro street) basically outlaw 10.5. Three are regulars 2 are members of the Mobley crew Sexton and Ulsch running 700 Fulton power with 3 kits!

I love watching them, but I'd never drive one. I think I'd sooner drive a fuel altered (AA/FA). http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
