NEED HELP! i have a 68 2door hardtop coupe which i belive to be a catalina but the door cards do not seem to match those in the 68 year model catalog my cards are the same as the bonny ones ie long arm rests door pull in a recessed hole at the end. First of all, I assume you're talking about the interior door panel (as us Yanks call them.)
I'm not an expert on '68 Pontiacs, but I did a little looking around on the internet and found one photo of a '68 Pontiac interior at http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/226700. It appears to also have the long armrest with the door handle in the front end. If your car is truely a 2 door hardtop catalina, it should be a style number 25287. One other possibility is that it's a Ventura, which I believe was a trim option on the Catalina in 1968 instead of a separate model. Venturas had fancier interiors, much more like a Bonneville.

One thing you should do is go to the Pontiac Historical Services website and see about ordering the information for your car - they will supply the original build sheet, showing exactly how your car was built at the factory, along with a lot of other useful and interesting information. The next thing I'd suggest is acquiring a factory brochure and factory shop manuals - there are a lot of online places to find the brochure, Walter Miller or eBay are two good places to look, and the shop manuals are available on CD-Rom, which would be a lot cheaper to ship to England than the real things.

The interior you describe sounds like the deluxe interior option. This used the GP/ Bonneville door pannels that I know of. I will look tomorrow and bost the option code. Pat

Can not seem to find any info in the books I got. I can not seem to remember where I seen information on the interior. They used the Bonneville and GP style door handles and door pannels I don't know if they use the seat pattern though. Does yours have the GP/ Bonneville style seat patterns? Pat

Found the door handle mechanism in the Ames catalog and it is a custom trim option, not a Deluxe interior as I first stated.

The 1968 Pontiac Accessorizer states Ventura Custom interior 25287 2drht Catalina , Bucket seat $219.07 or the 25267 Convertable Catalina, Bucket seat for 177.99. So I would say that the Door pannels, bucket seats and maybe the console were added with the option. Hard to say as it does not list any thing other then that information in the book.

The seat covers look like the ones From the Bonneville as showen in the sales information for 1968. Does the rear seat have the center arm rest that folds down in the middle. Can not tell from the pics. Hope this helps a bit. Pat

I dove into my 1968 dealer sales album and found that the Deluxe interior appointments were available on the Catalina only with the Ventura Custom Interior option. The interior trim numbers listed are:
525 Dk Blue
526 Dl Turquoise
527 Med Gold
528 Parchment
529 Black

These same numbers are listed as standard interiors for the Executive series. Here's a scan of the Executive interior from the '68 album. Sorry, only the bench seat configuration was shown:

What does the TR (trim) information on your cowl (firewall) tag read?
