Rivera 71 455/400 drop into a 72 Lemans

I know this is the wrong forum guys but need an answer quick. I have a line on a free 455 and 400 trans off a 71 Buick Rivera. Will this drop into a 72 Lemans or do I need to make some kind of adjustment? I'm thinking not as BOP 455s were the same block, correct? How about the tranny? Thanks for your tips..

you'll need to change the frame stands, extend the harness so it will reach the front mounted dist and possibly the starter.

i don't remember which length output shaft the boatails ran so i can't answer that.

the bellhousing pattern is the same as a pontiac.

the buicks aren't bad engines but the oiling systems leave something to be desired and they aren't cheap to repair.

btw i'm moving this to the non pontiac engines section.

Aren't Riviera's front wheel drive??? That 455 is gonna look pretty wrong stuck in there sideways!!

You're confusing it with the Olds Toronado. ALL Riveras were rear wheel drive, of that vintage.

bill it wouldn't sit sideways anyhow, the toro's engine was mount the "right" way and the trans was a monster.

the rivi's were pretty nice cars for thier time.

boattails are just cool. stage 1 boattails were / are fast.
