Actually that's a 71, the emblems on the fender is differant than 72. He put alot of work in that car especially what he did to the seat to keep the bench. Nice work on the car could make some one a decent car, notice the tranny is a dual pattern so your set no matter what the gm motor you use. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I don't need another one, as I'm building mine how I want it. If I were to buy that car the hood would have to go.

Yeah, that hood has to go!!!! Being from Long Island and the look of the car, I would say it has made some money for him. If I wasn't working on 2 cars right now, it would be in my garage!!!! http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have a ton of pics of that car. I was looking for info on the car and he sent them to me. These pics are better detailed than the ones on gDr.com

A few questions-

What color is that?

I dont believe if I sat in that car the side bars (for the cage) would pass between my shoulder and elbow- what do you think?

I can't honestly say, but you could change that if needed. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That seems like a good deal to me.

Most of the tech guys or girls wouldn't even catch the sidebar deal. If they moved the seat back some it might be ok. Seems the main hoop is back a bit to far and the door bars are to short.
Still is a very nice car. The Yenko hood scoop must go.

Jack, I have to agree with you on how good or bad some techs might be. I've seen some real junk get to run way faster than I would have wanted to go in the car. I've seen some so bad that I felt the car would have been safer with no rollbar or cage at all. That would prevent the bars that would come lose from smacking the driver in an accident.

bmpmdf, Have you ever taken a look at the welds on some of these cars? I could do a better job blindfolded. Scary!

bmpmdf- To tell you how bad our tech people are, we are an NHRA sanctioned track and the tech people have not looked under my car for a driveshaft hoop in 10 years. At the begining of the season we have the option of getting a YTI or an ETI. The ETI(extended tech inspection) makes it so I can run at any NHRA track and not have to be teched for that season. One would think they'd be a bit more thorough beings there signature is on my tech credentials.
I see cars at our track start up and lunge forward or backwards. What does that tell you?

JSchmitz-I wouldn't consider them welds. There globs of moulten metal that were applied over paint. If these people want to save the 300.00(this is what we charge to properly install a pre bent cage)and try welding it themselves, then there life isn't worth much to them. I've seen racers break ladder bar brackets and spring perches. All were welded with 110 wire feed units that cant produce enough heat to penetrate thicker steel. Im not trying to bag on the do-it-your-selfers. Most of the time its not the person doing the work its the equipment that there trying to use.
