Musty-Moldy smell in interior

My son's winter/college car is a 67 Catalina. When we first got it it had water leaks. We pretty much fixed the leaks. However, the interior still has that musty-moldy smell in the interior. He says "The girls don't like it". Any suggestions besides hanging an air freshener?

Try the household product Frebreeze. I believe they may have an automotive specific version now as well.

I used it on a musty boat carpet and it did work.

You might try a commercial cleaning service that has an ozone generator, as well. Ozone will kill almost any smell, and it doesn't take long at all.

musty smell, I bet the insulation under the carpet is moldy and the fix is to tear up the carpet and insulation then replace both.
Only do this if you are sure the leaks are fixed.

"Atmosklear" has no equal. It removed the odor of 90W gear oil out of my shag carpeting in my Jeep. It will remove cat urine odor, as well. You must get to the source, though. Go to "www.atmosklear.com". Been using it for over a year. It's expensive, but worth it.
