what should be the torque on the 350 chevy timing gear to camsaft bolts?

I know the avg 5/16 bolt should be about 15~20ft lbs but I want to be sure.

i think mine went like 20 at least. the main thing is to use either the locking plate, available at stores, or lock-tight on these. as long as you are putting the gears on be very very careful if your crank gear has more than one keyway on it. i used a cloyes set and it had three keyways on the crank gear. there are three marks on one. a circle is for straight up timing, the triangle does one thing and the square something else. the square looks exactly like a zero on a scoreboard, that is, almost like the circle. if you line it up on this mark with the dot you will be fine, but if for any reason you remove the camshaft gear and put it back on, it is extremely easy to line it back up with the wrong mark (ie the square) thinking it is the circle. if you do this you will bend every pushrod in your motor two or three times until you take your engine all apart. do NOT do this! if your gear is a stock replacement and only has one keyway on the crank gear you have nothing to worry about, since it is idiot proof.

yeah, its my neighbors motor and he bought one entire set from Engine Tech. The double roller and the cam only have one key. Thanks for the advice on the Lock tite, I did it on the Rod bolts but didnt think it was necessary for the cam bolts. Still got it on the stand with the heads just bolted on. Got another weekend or two before its all done!!
