I was looking at wilwood brake kits and they all seem to use 1/2 wheel studs. what will I run into trying to run my stock 8" snowflakes. Where can I get lugs to fit and will the wheel have to be drilled ? ALso how do I put the 1/2 studs in the axles ? Can I drill them by hand or should Take them someplace?

I have GREAT news for you! Your Snowflakes will fit without any modifications. Just get the proper type of lug nuts that have the square shoulder and washer and they'll fit. The same lug nuts that fit my Convo Pro wheels also fit my Snowflakes. I don't remember the part number, but if you give Scott Esterle a call at Summit, he can help, he knows.

What about the axles do I have to thread the flange to install the studs,or are they a press fit like the stockers ? I am running Moser Axles but they have the street size 7/16 studs.

You'll need to drill and tap the hubs to fit the studs. My suggestion would be to purchase some aftermarket Moser axles that are already setup. You'll need them once you're in the 10's, or if you're running a spool (regardless of ET).

Brian, he already has Moser axles.

77TA, If I'm not mistaken the studs should have screwed into the axle flange, but that's how all the moser axles I've seen have been. If so just replace the studs by screwing in new ones. Then again all the moser axles I've seen came with 1/2" studs so....

Just throwing this out there, would 5/8" studs work with the snowflakes? I'd rather use a couple 8 in spares for my radials vs. buying another pair of draglites. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

My Moser's were set up for press in 7/16 but threaded for 1/2".

my moser with 7/16 studs are pressed. So I drill and tap for the 1/2 ? Can I do this at home or does a machine shop need to do this ?

I would think you could use a drill press and use the correct size bit to center then switch bits to drill. I would worry more about keeping the tap really straight.

I guess my question is what bolt circle diameter does the brake kit use. The snowflake wheels uses a smaller circle than all the 1/2 " bolt circles i've seen.
