Oil and Water Temp

Hey guys

I have put a 1971 350ci Olds in my TA and got it running. But the oil pressure guage doesn't seem to work or the pressure is so high that it goes off the scale, the same is happening with the water temperature it sits at 100F and doesn't move even after the engine is warm. The clocks and gauges are out of a 79 TA that had a 403 olds in it, so i didnt think there would be a problem.

Anyone have any ideas?

I dont fancy driving the car without knowing my oil pressure.

sounds like you need a new oil pressure sender and use a water temp sender for guages, sounds like the idiot light sender was used on the water.

Yeah me too, I think you need to get the correct senders. You're car came without an engine right? So you don't have access to the 403 that came out. hmmm

The temp sender came from the 403, but the oil sender came with the 350 engine. Will the oil sender from the 403 work/fit if i get hold of it?

There are 2 styles of senders. One is for use with gauges and the other is for cars without gauges. The Idiot light type simply grounds or un-grounds at a specific value which turns a light on at the dash. They don't have a variable to them to make the gauges work.

The 403 senders should fit like a glove. Just take it from the 403 and install in the same location on the 350. If they still don't work, you need to check your wiring, gauges and the sender for function.
