mechanical temp is on the front top of intake manifold where idiot light sender is. For oil, it depends, if using plastic tubing, not metal, I prefer off top back of block under distributor, if metal, then tee off oil sender at oil filter mount.

As Engineer said, the oil line can be plumbed in at the top rear of the engine next to the distributor. There is a threaded plug in a hole there that connects into an oil gallery. I used it for the oil pressure gauge in my car and it worked slick.
You can generally route the lines back to the gauges through the rubber grommet for the existing wire harness.

if you're looking for a good place to mount the guages in the dash (im assuming it's a GP) try in the hole from the stereo, if you arent using the shaft-style radio. i put my guages in there, with a thin aluminum panel, and all it took was minor clearancing of the hole. much better than hacking a hole out for a stereo, and beats having the panel hanging off the bottom of the dash!

no need for a picture at dist. just remove the pipe plug and screw in tubing fitting.

Carefull with the plug that is there. Mine was a square plug that was not 3/8". Anyone have suggestion of best way to remove it.

either buy the special snap -on socket that fits the plug, or grind down an old extension or use square stock that size with an open end wrench.
