The early 70´ths 400 CID Engine with "low power"

hi,
if I have an 400 engine from the early 70´ths than have this much lower power than the late 60´ths ! where can I bring power in the "low powered" engines ? change only the intake manifold and the carburator and maybe the camshaft to bring back the horsepower I need ?...what is the "biggest" difference between the early 70ths and late 60ths engine ?

The biggest difference from the mid 70's and the 60's was that the 71 and newer engines had lowered compression ratio. Also were designed for emissions and gas milage,not performance.

If you have a 2 bbl on your engine going to a 4 bbl will help.

If already 4 bbl,'hopping up' the combo will probably help.

I´ll take a 4bbl perfomance intake with a Edelbrock 650 "Thunder" carb ..a friend of me have an "AirRam" update for this engine including cylinderheads ...this sound´s good for me but we must have a long "palaber" about the price of this I think !! ;-)
