As previously posted, I am having some driving problems with my 78 Trans Am. I have removed the carb and dismantled it this afternoon. Car has a rebuilt 400 + 0.030" with a Comp extreme (268 I think) cam, Crane fast bleed lifters, #16 heads (about 9.6:1 cr) and an original set of Tri-Y headers.

Primary jets are #71 and rods are 41K (tips measure 0.025").

Secondary rods are BE. (Tips measure 0.042")

Maybe someone can walk me through what I need to change and look at next.

Where can I get jets and rods for these carbs?

knock out the 1/4" aluminum plug from the airhorn so that you can adjust the APT.
Make sure the choke pull-off diaphram will hold a vacuum.
Trev, can you give a Hg figure at idle?

I'd fatten it up a little to 73 and 43s. See how the piston glides. You may need a softer spring with a little bigger cam depending on the vacuum. Edelbrock ha a kit for later model Q jets.
