This is a continuation of the earlier post (10-06-2001 08:24 PM )concerning problems with Rock & Roll Engineering. I re-contacted Bruce Fulper to try and regain some of my money for parts and services paid for but not rendered. The next paragraphs are my E-Mails to Bruce and his reply:

Bruce:
If you remember I told you I would make it my lifes work to let everyone know how you screwed me. Here is a small sample of the information about your questionable business practices on the WEB.

(I inserted 10 pages of additional complaints from the WEB BBB)

You still owe me a refund of over $700.00, and the paperwork for the junk you did send me. In the Spring I will be in L.A. and I will be stopping by to see you.

Too bad you didn't tell them the truth. You owe us $65 for the balance due for the cam and lifters. You refused to pay us, stating your own self serving reasons. Now, you've made a jerk of yourself. Your custom cam and lifters have been sitting here waiting for you. The other b.s. you created is as follows: And make sure you put this on the board too: (I doubt you're man enough)
The customer always pays for shipping. (It's on our web site.) We never talk about flow numbers and we never give out flow sheets. (Over 1300 sets sold.) The springs were the correct strength. You still owe us $65 dollars for the custom cam and lifters. When it's paid we'll ship them. There are no refunds on custom ordered parts. All of our policies are on the web site and catalog.
I don't act like a child. I wish you wouldn't either. But thanks anyway. Chris Casperson is paying dearly for allowing you to lie on his site.
I AM GRACIOUSLY AND PATIENTLY WAITING SIR.

My Reply to the above:

No problem, than I will continue submitting my story on the web everywhere I can. I also give away free copies of my letter to everyone who comes by my GTO at the car shows and Pontiac meets. I am willing to play this game with for as long as it takes, I just won’t fade away.

Why don’t you try to post a reply to my complaint on the same web site, it should make for a few good chuckles. I am assuming all the other complaints about your questionable business practices are also complete fabrications.

You should also be getting a call from the California State Attorney Generals office very soon. They have contacted me about my complaint and will be contacting you about it.

I would seem I have already “lost it all”, which stared with our first phone call. I will warn you again, I don’t really care about the money, but I won’t be screwed by anyone. You were unable to deliver the components with the proper documentation with in the time frame we discussed. You probably don’t remember our conversation, but I was dubious about the three-month delivery for these components and expressed concern. You assured me you could deliver these components with in 90 days. Only after waiting for four months, and talking with numerous other Pontiac races, who had been waiting 8 months for their heads did I become concerned.

If you have forgotten, our verbal deal was for the following items/services:

One set of Edelbrock Heads, with correct springs and valves, ported to?? (Delivered, but no data, and wrong springs)
Custom Roller Cam (Held for ransom)
Custom Hydraulic Roller Lifters (Held for ransom)
Brand X Roller rockers (Held for ransom)
Brand X correct length push rods (Held for ransom)
Delivery in 90 days (Only the heads were finally delivered after seven months, I had to call twice a week for three months)
Receipt for money spent (I have never gotten any receipt)

You did not fulfill your end of the “DEAL” and I wanted a refund. Just think; if you had sent all my parts with the heads in July, you wouldn’t be in trouble now. You might ask yourself “WAS IT WORTH IT”

You know, there is someone else that had a complaint about Bruce on the Classical Pontiac site(just type in Rock -N- Roll in the search engine and it should pop up! The poor kid talked about how he saved up money to buy parts little by little while he went to school(HS I think), and Bruce was supposed to hold on to the parts until all the correct parts needed were gathered...but apparently Bruce stiffed him too! Two years now and no parts. I'd get a hold of this guy and combine synergies. -Chris

my name is JAMES MEYER and i'm located in CONNECTICUT and in case BRUCE is reading this i want him to know who wrote it . about 5 years ago i bought a set of e heads that were suppose to be 72cc cnc ported and 1.77exhaust valves $2600 .this was my first large purchase on parts and i was sorta warned before hand but, i thought it might of been jealousy on other peoples part so i ordered anyway.heads were suppose to be done in about 8 weeks so he could bring them to maple grove they were done about 3 months later at the end november. i was in no rush so i did not care because i did not have anything to put them on. anyway in the mean time i bought a new ram air ta and when the heads were finally done i did not have the balance which was about $800 it took me about 3 months to come up with the money. but in the mean time when i paid the heads off i came into a large chunk of money and i stated to discuss with him about building a killer short block $5000 worth 3 inch main 474 also cut down rod journals,bill miller alum rods, je pistons, zero gap rings, roller cam,hard blocked, i provided crank,oil pan, timing cover and i bought the rest from him since his prices were reasonable.i sent him $3200 to get started i did not have the rest and was not in a terrible rush .about 6 months goes by i give him a call to see how things are going they tell me it at the machine shop getting the crank done. many months go by i call again same story still at machine shop i'm still not in a rush .now its overa year later i come into more money i pay my balance to get the project done.a couple months go by i get more money and i want to buy all the missing parts to make this a complete engine gaskets,push rods,roller lifters,valley pan,all msd distributor, wires and crankfire ignition about the only thing i was not sure of at this time was a carbuerator since i was out of money again. we made a deal to trade my warrior intake for a victor plus $200 for them to port the victor. all this money was paid the only thin i owed at this time on this $11,000 engine was my warrior intake all i had from them at this time was a couple of shirts some stickers and a receipt on the heads and a fax on what i was suppose to get. anyway 4 months go by its january here so no racing is happening so i call to find out how soon i will be getting this .Tim (Bruces lead guy)promises me i will this engine in 2 months(middle of march)anyway 3 weeks go by i call to check on progress and Tim is no longer there "back problems" so i talk to somebody else .a week or 2 later i call there again always tring to talk to BRUCE personally first but never takes calls anymore and the guy i talked with a week or 2 earlier is no longer there either "father was dying" also the secretary never ever answered the phone anymore more either??? at this point i was really worried but they kept telling me don't worry everything is fine they told me about a similar combo as mine making 750hp so that made me feel a little better anyway i'm now calling there weekly never speaking to Bruce anymore anyway i keep telling them i want a very documented receipt with all prices in case i ever had to sell i would have proof of what i have.now we are in May 2 MONTHS LATER THAN PROMISED now they start telling me i'm holding them up by not sending my warrior intake i tell them if i next day mail my intake will they mail my engine they tell don't rush since they don't even have another victor intake in the shop besides the one on there racecar which they said if they had to they would ship to me which i was fine with i just wantede this nightmare over with.a week goes by i call them up they received my intake and they tell me my intake is at the porters being ported i was very angry but they were 3,000 miles away lucky for them anyway Bruce is now pushing me to put this on the dyno i did not have the money but he kept bothering me about it. i was expecting 600-650 hp since that similar engine had 750hp .now it's the end of may and the racing season is well under way i get the engine and it suppose the be run and broken in only thing i was to be missing was carbuerator since i was out of money again. the day finally arrives it shows up not wher it was suppose to but at the shipping companys dock. no big deal since i finally got this killer engine by MR. PONTIAC HIMSELF with tons of documentation right??? wrong i got the worst most generic receipt i ever got with just the very basics and no prices also stating i had 87 cc heads and not the 72 cc which i was suppose to have also i got the wrong gear drive and the engine was never fired, run or boke in,it gets better he was to cheap to ship it with spark plugs since i did not give the $8 for them so he sent it 3,000 with 8 open cylinders and it was wrapped with saran wrap the wires i bought were not assembled since it was not run it also was not painted like it was suppose to be and the intake i had to have milled .100 on each side since it did fit and it was written on the intake in magic marker so they knew it. anyway i finally get it i want to tear it apart to make sure i got what i was suppose to get but i'm a novice at all of this that's why i bought it all from him to begin with .it sits for a few months i take to the dyno here locally and the dyno operator is pontiac knowledeable and he says things look like the could make 600-650hp but don't get your hopes up since he has seen many engines perform a lot less than they are suppose to my first pull nets a 500 hp and the best of the day was 520hp i could of got all this with iron heads and a lot less money a lot quicker and more than likely locally,but BRUCE is a salesman and he will screw you like he did me if you give him the opportunity. so i would suggest nobody buy anything from him i talked to many people since and found 3 other guys who bought heads that had wrong springs and were not ported as stated so he has gotten a bunch of us out here in the east i guess that's why he does not come to maple grove anymore. if anybody wants a digital picture of this wonderful receipt i have i would be happy to email it to you . if anybody wants to contact me especially you Bruce my email is [email protected] i TELL THIS STORY EVERY CHANCE I GET TO HOPEFULLY PREVENT SOMEBODY ELSE FROM BEING A VICTIM

I cant believe this guy is still in business. Luckily I have never bought anything from him and never will. The only thing people can do is stay away from him. Eventually it will take its toll. For all the people he has screwed all I can say is see what legal action you can take up with him.

Do any of you remember a guy named Tony Sizemore? He screwed a whole bunch of people at one time, was originally from Ohio, went to school at a automotive college in California, was written up
in all of the mags, etc. Turned out he was a full
time crook. Screwed Marty Palbykin and others on work on cylinder heads and delivery times.

Brucie grew up in Ohio, went to the same school in California, was written up in the same mags, started a business porting heads (just like Tony Sizemore). Notice any common threads?? Brucie

is just a "want-a-be" from a little town in the

The West Coast examples, like above, seem to thrive on "start-up" hype, self-generated, self-promoted. Then they burn-up like a meteor. :rolleyes:

H.I.S. - The west coast also has reputable shops. Ken "Ace" Brewer at Pacific Performance Racing is a great person to do business with. I've also heard from many satisfied customers of Ken Crocie at H-O.

Did anyone read the new Car Craft? In the tech in back, they say Foolper has truckloads of e-heads that have been "fixed" cuz of something that was weak in them...rubber something, can't remember now since I'm at work and havn't read it in a few days.

Actually the quote says RRE has reworked a truckload of these heads, then gives their recommended stem to guide clearance. The mention implies that RRE does a lot of work on these heads and is therefore the expert source of advice.
Like most magazines, Car Craft cranks it out for the masses without knowing the history of the people they are dealing with. There are enough new or uninformed who take what is printed as gospel. That, in turn, gives places with poor service a steady stream of new customers to fleece.
Car Craft has always prided itself on being Jr. High School entertainment.

Clarification!
In no way was there any intent to suggest that all people from California are crooks. The "less than ethical" gentlemen I mentioned in the previous post were transplants from another state. Ken Crocie is a personal friend who has a
great deal of knowledge and was a major asset to
HO Racing when they were in business in the 70s.
Every item that I have received from Ken has been as advertised. Yes Jim, I remember Leggett. Did you ever get your camshaft??

I have every issue of Car Craft since 1961. I just received my last issue, February 2002, and did not renew. Over the last several years, it has been almost a copy of Hot Rod(Every issue since Dec.1956), so why buy both magazines.

I bought some stuff from Fulper a few years ago. He had some good prices so I went with him. He took over four to five months to deliver all that I ordered. I got my credit card statement back saying everything wad paid for, for some time like almost three months. So I called him and told him I was going to dispute the charges with the credit card company. That's when he sent me my stuff but still in drips and drabs. IMO he's bad news!

Well I stirred the pot. Most of you have seen the letter from JM about his dealings with Bruce, well I posted on both OPR, (where it was being discussed) and on PP1. I would like to thank WARIAR (who posted the letter from JM) for his assist. Doubt if either of our posts will be there tomorrow, but at least we will have gotten to a few readers. If I get kicked off of PP1, as my good freind Jack Peters says, "who gives a rip".

I must have been the only guy on this boart that was not ripped off. Bruce had some pretty cheap prices and the parts came as they said they would. Now mind you I only purchased parts from him but they arrived in a timely fasion. I paid by money order if that is any help as I don't like credit cards, since I ran a 4 digit bill when I was younger I cut them all to pieces.

Hey, I was just reading all of you bashing R&R.
I have a 9.8 compression 650hp 455.

I was at the Dyno. I am very happy.

He isnt the fastest person in the world, that is true. But he worked with me, over time to put this engine together. I called Butler, and KRE,
and I was blown off.

So in my opionion He delivered everything he promised.
