Anyone deal with the Parts place Inc. ?? I want to order from them

I need a few parts for my car, and the company called the parts place Inc., has some of them at a fair price. Has anyone dealt with them before? If so, are they OK or should I look someplace else? I ned winder glass fer my goat, that our host does not have. They, have the back glass and I can't get it local without having it custom cut at three times the price. Thanks friends. < Mike >

I've had good dealings with them.
check the better business boards. they are a big company, hence you could be hit or miss.
Try bethel's also.... he's got lot's of stuff too.

I have bought a few otherwise unavailable parts from them and have been satisfied. Never a problem in the 3 orders I've made.

BTW, I bought their reconditioned '66 metal grill trim, the repro grills, convertible latch receivers and louvered tailight bezels. All the parts are as good or better than the original stuff.

they sell certain repro items that do not fit
right and are not acceptable, and then when you
call to complain, they tell you that no one else has complained about the product. This was my experience with them, and there have been other posts in this forum with this same complaint. A good example are the repro 69 GTO
front fenders...they don't fit, but they still
sell them and if you ask them before you order them they will claim that nobody has complained about them. Other vendors quit selling these fenders as soon as the problems became apparent,
but the parts place will sell anything that they can make a buck on and tell you that you are the only guy who has complained. I bought
some reproduction Hurst wheels from them, and the rims are not made right....the trim rings will not go on them if a tire is mounted on them. I called to complain and the owner said nobody else had complained and refused to believe that what I was saying was true. They took them back after much hassle, but I had to pay the shipping!

I have used them with good sucess. My only problem was their tech support. I bought the rally gauge set 2 years ago and finally got around to putting them in. I know, a long time to wait, but I lost the instructions and waited forever for no answer. I guessed at it and was right about the power hookup to the set.

I want to thank everyone for their input. I need the back glass from my 67 GTO, and they said they have them new. None of my glass shops i my area (Portland, Oregon) say they can get them and they have to be made. So, I need to double check with the parts place and see if they really do have new tinted glass. Someone was going to get back with me on two nice ones they had, but I never heard back, so buying new was my next choice. I also see they have the reconditioned inside heater boxes for the 67 GTO. Now, if they are complete like they say they are that would be faster for me than getting a core and doing one myself. Again, thank you everyone. < Mike in Oregon >

I wouldn't use them again... Order numerous parts from them last year to include a rear quarter patch panel. When the package I discovered that the patch panel was literally thrown in a box with a bunch of other miscelleneous parts. (No packing foam or anything) Needless to say the patch panel was all dented up. When I called to complain, the person I talked to referred me to a supervisor. When I explained that the items were poorly packaged and I wanted a replacement, the supervisor promptly hung up on me.. Never again.

Many years ago I purchased a 69 gto front fender from them. they told me it was a new GM fender. A couple years later I put the fender on the car and found out it was a reproduction.

I ordered a PONTIAC name plate for the trunk lid of my 72. They said it was an exact reproduction. When I got it it wouldn't fit the holes, it was about a 1/4" short from one end to the other. When I called, they said mine must be wrong (It's a 56k original mile car - only the block has been changed!) I finally got bumped to the supervisor who said that if I sent mine to them, they would credit me for the one I purchased and it would help with their quality control - once they solved the problem they would return mine with a new one as well.

Well, stupid me sent it, and yup, they never got it. Life is too short for bull**** like that - do yourself a favor, don't use them!

I am not sure how big of a business they really are, but they do present themselves as such. I have seen a lot of their products at a local swap show and they look pretty decent, but of course that can be decieving when you try to fit one of their products.

Sometimes it is better to spend a bit extra with a company that is known for high quality than to take the chance on a "deal".

I've never ordered anything from them, because their prices are awfully high - I've always managed to find it cheaper elsewhere so far . . .

Also, their catalogue is not particularly descriptive, and does not have pictures.

Other than the above, I have no problems with them . . . .

Based on what I see and hear, I don't think I'd buy anything that I didn't know for sure about the quality on. Some things you can tell, but other things are a shot in the dark. If I was at their front door and could see one of the judgement parts, I might still not buy it.
