Fuel pressure

Greetings,I have a 1967 GTO(360hp.ram air)with an electric fuel pump.Originally it was putting out 12 lbs. of fuel pressure which seemed a lot.My garage suggested an adjustable regulator that is set for
4 lbs which seems low.Any input as to a normal fuel pressure?My car has a quadrajet carb. Thank you.

My '67 HO with Q-Jet and mechanical fuel pump has 5.5 lbs. of pressure. I've been told that pressure over 6 lbs. in early Q-Jets could cause problems.

4-6 lbs should be ok...

Thank you for the reply.I now have an adjustable fuel pressure control and I have it set for 5psi.We had a few day where the air temp hit 100 degrees and coupled with the original 12 psi my Q-jet blew a gasket.My garage did a rebuild and everything seems O.K now,however I have to pump the gas about 8 times to get enough gas to start the motor.I going back to have the floats reset(sounds like they're too low)I found a rebuit Q-jet(# matching)but $1300 seems excessive.Not many Carter Q-jets left I guess.Happy motoring.J.Tary
