I took the modulator off of my 400 trans to replace it. Should trans fluid flow freely nonstop?

warmed-up & level ground...you were on the high-side of full.

so is there anything I should do? I also don't like how the car shifts at full throttle. it hesitates then it grabs. the trans doesn't slip like it's free-wheeling but you feel a big drop in RPM's and there is a dead point in between shifts where I seem to be in limbo Not speeding up or slowing down. 1.5 to 2 second lul in the action.
At about 110mph (I know, I shouldn't be doing that on the street) but at 110MPH it wants to drop back into second is that a problem with the kick-down switch or selenoid(if that is what it's called)on the trans? Maybe it's time for a rebuild of the trans?

Sounds like too much shift overlap from 2-3.
May want to drop the valvebody, disable the 2-3 accumulator in the valvebody by flipping the piston $ tossing the spring.
While you are in there, toss a couple checkballls, and drill two separatorplate holes to speed things up.
so far, not a rebuild issue.
Re-gap your plugs to .040" +/- .005" to assure spark occurs during those shifts.
You can use a small screwdriver to screw-in the modulator ADJ screw sclockwise to get firmer yet later shifts or CCW to get earlier yet softer shifts.

Sounds like something that I could really screw up. /infopop/emoticons/icon_eek.gif I am not familiar with transmission work. Engines I will tackle. but trans are uncharted territory. how much would a pro charge to fix these problems?
