I have a 231 buick V6 in my 79 lemans safari wagon and want to put a standard flywheel off from a 1978 231 buick V6 out of a pontiac sunbird on it. This is so I can convert the car to a 4 speed for now while the 412 and nash 5 speed are being readied http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif . Are these 2 231's the same motor so I won't run into balance problems???

if i remeber correctly the balance between the odd and even fire engines is different.
i do know the cranks are different.
the easy way to tell the diff between the 2 is in the dist cap posts.
the evenfire engines have them evenly spaced around the cap and the oddfire engines have a couple of the terminals that are out of sequence in regards to the spacing.
