Why would your drivers side rear quarter panel flex alot? Does not seem to do it on the passengers side.

Where's it flexing exactly??

Seems like it has seperated or lost it's stiffness at the area directly at the wheel well on the drivers side. Was it attached in any way in that area from the factory that may have broken loose?

Funny you mention that. My 72 convt has the same problem exactly. Driver side above wheelwell flexes. Pass side is fine.

If your talking about the panel flexing in and out with hand pressure, you may be able to deaden the backside of the panel by laying down a layer of fiberglass or by spraying with undercoating (depending on how much flex you have).

Get some Q pads and stick them on the inside of your quarter panel . This should help stiffen the panel .

Man is not complete until he's married , then he is finished !

I would love to know of a good fix for this, because I saw a case of this on a 68 conv. and the owner did all of the proper steps in replacing the quarter panel. He did mention that he did drive the car like it was meant to be driven. So flex is the problem, but how to keep seams from popping back through? http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

I have had 2 -68 firebirds the 1/4 rips just below the 1/4 window but only on the driver side. I am installing frame conecters and then repairing the rip i will post if it re rips.

My 66' Lemans has the same thing, trust me it's not from torque! At least not with my car!LOL! Mine tends to pop in while washing the car and I happen to hit it with my leg while reaching across to get the back window and trunk.
