got some bad news on my new JBP ESP crank yesterday. the machinist checked out the tolerances on all the crank journals before assembly and found a couple of rod journals to be under the spec.
he said that the crank would have to be turned. no, i'm not going to have it turned, thats the reason i bought a new crank to begin with.
i guess someone had to get the bad one out of the hundreds that have been sold.
well, so much for quality control :mad:
according to claims, these cranks are inspected to insure quality...huh :confused:
i'll call JBP this morning and test the waters of customer service. from what i've heard of the butlers, i feel confident that they will take care of the problem.
i'll keep ya posted.

very pleased to report that david butler has come through and will replace the crank; no hassles.

Goes to show that anyone can occasionally make a mistake, but the good companies make it right without a hassle. ;)

Butler sells them, they don't manufacture them. If I could have a dime for every time I had a bad part. :mad: You really have no idea! JBP is some good people so I'm glad you have, what looks to be, a good experience with them.

one more crankshaft blues story, were in the process of rebuilding a 65,421 engine,in more than one pontiac magizine jbp, offers the 4 in, crank for sale,i called to order one around the first of the month,i was told to call back? the next week,i did,got a different answer the second call, only to find out the four in. version is not even avilable?? it was two weeks only to find out the parts not even made :confused:

even if one is made,I bet it will be a 3in main unit,NOT a 3 1/4!
4 inch crank, a Pontiac 4 inch crank? I don't think so, at least not in stock anywhere. In which magazine did you see an ad for a 4 inch crank for sale by anyone? Something very wrong here.

Depending upon core availabitly, JBP has remanufactured 4" cranks for your 421/428. They do advertise them, but availabiltiy is low.
