Shipping Warning!!!!

If you have contracted any shipments with American Auto Shipping (Camarillo, CA), and your transaction has not been completed (including payment of the trucking company/driver), you will need to contact the Ventura County (CA) D.A.s office (805-289-1950).

it seems these scum have been taking $$$$ up front on shipment bookings, then not paying the drivers, and not placing the bookings. Well, giuess what?! Mine is one of them. I got so used to hearing lame excuses for not picking up/delivering the last two cars I shipped that I figured it was just normal incompetence. Nope. It was plain old fraud.

Anyway, it looks like I'm out $800 and a whole spring/summer of GTO events. I've gotta start all over, but now I'm trying to move into a new house so going and getting the car will be xtra tough. Aaaaaauuuuuuugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:

There better be a God who does like a little vengeance. I'll be glad to give him my records.

I find the regularity of posts describing auto shipping problems quite interesting.

I have a friend here who experianced some difficulties about 4 years back getting a '67 Caprice picked up in Texas and dropped at Costa Mesa CA. If it wasn't for the efforts of the company receiving the car (for shipping over here), we think he may have lost it.

At the time I would have put that down to just bad luck in having a shark handling the car.

But after reading these boards for a couple of years, it seems to me that some Government body should step in and regulate the industry.

Many years ago, over here ANY job that required towing/cartage was somewhat akin to putting your head in the lions mouth. Eventually it got so bad that the entire industry was regulated. Now only licenced and acredited company's can operate in that field.

Prices are very fair and you NEVER hear of cars getting damaged.

Myself, I have a plan on driving my GP acros to Western Australia and then leaving the car in the hands of a freight company. In US$ terms, I'm being charged $350.00 to bring it back over 3000 miles.
