I would like to thank Hanlon Plating Co. in Richmond Va. for the fine job they did on my bumper. They took a bent on both end bumper with a golfball size dent over the liscence plate, and for $285 made it look good as new!

I also heard they were very good. For those who remember Green's Obsolete Auto, that is where Merle would take his cores to be re-plated. I have had two of Merle's replated bumpers on my car for over 5+ years and no problems. I did use POR 15 on the back side before I mounted them.

The only problem is that the last time I called, they informed me I had to drop off and pick-up. They would not ship due to past problems.

Hanlon told me he ships all up and down the east coast, infact he was boxing one up for Fla. when I was picking up. I also see him in the infeild at spring Charlotte autofair.

I agree... Jeff Hanlon is a super nice guy and been doing my chrome work for years. He is one of the few actual re-chrome shops left due to EPA regulations.

At the time, about 6 months ago, he told me my 63 full size bumpers were to big to ship. I was going to drop them off on my way south and asked him if he could ship them back to me. Maybe he has changed his mind. I'll call him again.

I spoke to Jeff yesterday. Said he could do bumpers for my '63 full size. His biggest concern is shipping the front bumper back to me so that it arrives safely. UPS will destroy the ends because of the shape/size. (He indicated because of their shape, they fall of the conveyor during UPS sorting and the ends get dented.)He has never had any luck in shipping the fronts for a '63 full size. He said he could return ship the front only, by truck, for about $150. Cost of replating front or rear, using my cores, was $325 each. He also said he had a friend that went to some of the shows close to my house and said he may be able to get them to take them if I was not in any rush. We'll see what happens. Anybody going from Richmond area to Englishtown area in May and want to make a few bucks?

I also checked some other sources.

The LA Bumper guys in California wanted $300 each (using my core), said they ship it by USPS for $25 each. ( Said they always used UPS in the past, but found out the USPS was cheaper and handled the bumpers more carefully.) They indicated they offer a 3 year warranty. They felt that Bumper Boyz was their biggest competetor. They also told me they do the complete process wheras, the Bumper Boyz send out their plating and only do the initial repair and final polishing/packaging.

I checked with Bumper Boyz. They want $490 each with core exchange. They have a two year warranty. They can deliver them to the show near the house. Need 4 week notice and want 25% down before they will deliver to show.
