I Would rather have a LeMans!! There are so many GTO's out there, both real & clone's. It is the exception to see a very clean Tempest or Lemans.

i've heard that GTO clones are everywhere and there is nothing in the vin# or fender tag to indicate GTO. who ever thought cloning could be so easy and widespread. is this true ???

The 64 & 65 GTO's were an option on the LeMans. The only way to tell if it is a true car & not a clone is to contact Pontiac Historic Services & get a copy of the build sheet to see if it had the gto option package. You can bet there is more 64-65's registered today than were ever built back then.

It's worth restoring just because it is a family owned car. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I picked up a 67 2dr ht Lemans which sadly sat outside uncovered for 18 years before I bought it. The owner was getting rid of it because it was "too rusty to repair" http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif I'm slowly trying to restore it, but other home projects & a boat to finish before summer starts are taking up a lot of my "spare" time . Have just finished the roof & front window channel, floors & under the rear seat. Next on to the trunk & lower 1/4 panels. I finally got my patch panels for the
1'4s & front fenders at Englishtown last weekend.

I toyed with the idea of making it a GTO look alike since I had so many parts left over from past projects including an original tail light panel, but finally decided to keep it a true Lemans. It's a 326 4spd car with buckets, console, 3.23 10 bolt posi & factory a/c. Too nicely optioned a car to just part out. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
It would be nice to just buy a completed car to drive, but with 2 kids in college, my toys get whatever leftover funds are available. http://forums.performanceyears.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif
