Oil Filter Adapter Gasket

67 GTO -- I just got my Ram Air Manifolds from RARE. I removed my old headers that I've had on for 10 years and I had to remove the oil filter and the "Adapter" to get the P. side off.
I went to the GM dealer in town and asked for the oil filter adapter gasket, of course he did not have it... but then I got to wondering, will I need the other angled adapter for these headers? Mine looks to point the filter straight down. Ok Dumb part of question--I am guessing that both of them mount the same and would use the same gasket anyhow right?

P.S. If anyone wants some headers cheap that I guarantee fit on a 67 GTO convertible, let me know!

Both adapters use the same gasket. You might be able to get it at NAPA.

How many gaskets do you need.Back when I used to pull my 455 out and replace broken pistons every month(due to #62 heads and not enough octane) I would always buy a complete gasket set.I have at least 4 spares.If you cant find one email me.

Thats one gasket I usally have around but one day I didn't so I made one. I always keep gasket material around for those late night fixes.

Hey thanks all! So i dont need the angled mount for the ram air's huh?
I make some gaskets, but I dont have any material this time. I guess I'll run by napa. If I'm unlucky or... too cheap... I'll take one of those extras! I'll let you know! What do you think of the ida of using silicone only? It was recommmended by one fella. Oh BTW the reason I had to remove the thing to get my headers off was I could NOT get the filter off, and cutting it quickly became a mess, so ... The headers would have come off with just the filter removed
Dont forget I have those headers I'll let go cheap + shipping.. Or local pickup!

I would not use just silicon seal in that area. It is too easy for it to squeeze out into the main oil supply. I would make sure I used a gasket. I typically silicon seal the gasket to the adapter, with a very small amount of the silicon seal. This makes it easier to remove and replace the adapter, and typically I don't have to replace the gasket.

I just put the same manifolds on my '66 convertible, and the straight oil filter adapter fits perfectly! It doesn't look like there's enough room, but there is!
