hey guys! i have a Qjet but have no idea what size it is. the #s i could find on it were 7038221 (located in the back of carb) and 4988S was located on the driver/linkage side. K6 was located under that.

can anyone tell me what this was off of and what size it is? also, what is the easiest way to tell the diff between a 750 and an 800 cfm Qjet. remember brian baker posting on the old board about that but i didnt make a note of it.

thanks!

I believe carb is a 1968 Calif. emmissions MT carb. Don't think it's Pontiac. Sounds like olds or Buick.
As a general rule...
3rd digit 3 makes it calif. 48 state is a 2
4th digit is the year
5th digit on Pontiacs are mostly 2
6th digit; 6 is non RA 7 is RA
7th digit; even is AT odd is MT
Pontiac 800 cfm carbs can be identified by the lack of a booster rings around the Venturi's. All others of that era are 750cfm. Also 70 Buick 455's were 800 cfm.

More on this Monday.

Kev,
The 7038231 is a 1968 Cadillac.
The 4988S could possibly have been a Carter number, as they built Q-jets when Rochester couldn't keep up.
