Caddy 429

Anyone have any experience in the caddy engine arena. My 66 Catalina has a bad 71 Pontiac 350 heart and needs replacing. I have access to a 66 Caddy 429 that needs a rebuild.
I know...don't grill me here....but I am in the process of thinking this one out. 1st choice always Pontiac.
Any "positive" thoughts appreciated

These guys maight help you with the parts and informations Cad500parts.com (http://www.cad500parts.com/).
But why not go with the Poncho, it needs rebuilding just like the Cad motor :(
Isn't the motor that you have access to a 425?? The Cad guys did got more parts for the younger engines i thought...

if things haven't change since i was last into a caddy you'll want to check pricing.

the caddy's make a ton of torque but used to be really expensive to build.

parts were also kind of scarce.

things may have changed so check it out and let us know. mike

You can get rebuild kits from Kanter. The 429 is an "early" style, Any hopup parts will be from ebay or DaleWilch. only the later Cads have any aftermarket support. That is the family consisting of the 425, 472 and 500.

Someone already mentioned Cad500parts.com Another one is 500CID.com I think. These are for '68 and later engines though. These are supposed to be really nice engines. Lighter than any other big block yet just as many cubes, if not more. Just not as popular as Pontiacs, chevy's, mopars, fords, ...

Cad500.com and all mentioned above deal with the 472/500/425 Cadillac block. They won't be much help with the 429.
