Hi I found a 75-76 x-body subframe with a sbc. I was thinking of putting this under my 55.
What would it take for mounts since it the engine is older than 69 and uses the old style mounts.
Also what about headers? 74 and older Ventura use rear steer, this is a front steer car , would they still work?
Thanks , Bill.

Is this frame similar to the 70-81 F-body frame?
I guess I could use headers for that if someone could verify that for me , Thanks.

Bill:
Off the top of my head, the suspension geometry/control arm design should be the only notable difference. Other than that: 9 times out of 10, a set of headers that will fit a rear-steer setup most definitely will fit a front-steer setup for the same application; very minimal mods needed, if any.

Bill have you considered replacing the whole frame with late 70s early 80s GM frame especially since you have a real Pontiac. A friend of mine is doing that with his 57 Pontiac cause his original frame was rotten. Wheelbase and width seem to be okay and would give you modern steering, brakes, bearings. I'm starting to consider that solution for the 51 I picked up. Didn't realize dem old American Pontiacs had king pins and such. alan

PLay400 , about the only 122" wheelbase i've found is an extended cab s-10. Btw your setup on your car turned out real nice with the mounts and rack and pinion, you'll have a nice package when your all done.
The factory frame engine mount on the subframe clip won't work anyhow because of the front axle centerline to engine mount centerline distance is differant.
I did have an interesting conversation with on of the members here who mentioned that an old conversion was to use upper and lower control arms and spindles from a 58 Pontiac to convert to ball joints. I need pictures of the control arms and crosshaft mounting measurments and control arm lenghts to verify though.
