What do you think, was it worth it?

I feel like I know some of you guys already. I've been a passive reader of this board for the last 6 months. Well last month I found what we have been looking for, a 67 LeMans for what seemed to be a decent price. Here's what I've got:
67 Pontiac LeMans -GTO hood,GTO grilles,his & hers shifter. 1970 455 mill punched out to 462 cubic inches. Dished TRW slugs give 10 to 1 squeeze job into 1968 No.16 400 GTO heads. Cam is a 308/320 degrees Ram Air IV grind with .468-inch lift. Vacuum secondary 750 cfm Holley. Rhodes lifters,Chrome moly pushrods,Edelbrok Performer manifold,power steering and brakes.
I paid $5000 for it. Has the typical rust spots along the doors and all wheel wells. Windows and windshield areas all loog good. A little bubbling under the vinal top. The bondo work was done poorly and will end up replacing the fenders and qrts, door skins look workable. What do you guys think? I'm not looking for a show car, an original car, just a fun toy. Think I got my money's worth?

I would watch out for the Cops if I were you. You stole that car. If that 462 is fresh then you made one hell of a deal. Good job.

Don't think fresh would be the best word for the engine. I know it's been rode hard, rust shows it was put up wet. I bought it sight unseen and notice a steel line from the trunk to the carb with NOS on it, so....
Brake line going to the front brakes was crushed during transport and I haven't had the time to replace it yet, so the only driving it has gotten was straight up the driveway, shifting from Drive to Neutral and into the garage. It does turn over and sounds good.
Not being so fresh, where would you start looking to bring it back up to daily driver standards?

The jorney begins, congradulations on your purches.I think if you like the car it's great.Now I'ld get it on the road and drive it a little. Then start fixing it up little by little.I would drive it in between fixes, so you don't lose intrest. You already know the engine needs freshening up, so take it easy on her. I've been on this journey. I built an other engine as I could and when it was ready I slipped it in. Keep driven and it will always be fun.

I would fix the brake line, take it out for a drive and see how it handles, any sagging rough ride related to suspension issues, did you get a posi? Just check for any fluids leaking and change oil and filter ,check/change tranny fluid and filter if it has been run hard. Sounds like you got a great deal, do the body last as not to take a chance on messing it up after bodywork and paint is done.
