how do you find your hood clearence... what intake and tall or short deck?

my motor is a short deck out of a 77 suburban with the eagle stroker crank(+.250), the +.25 eagle H beams, and JE 13:1 pistons with C&A ZGTF rings. Intake is a holley strip dominater single plane with a 850 cfm double pumper. As far as hood clearance it is a good thing there is already a hole in the middle of a trans am hood. the baseplate if the carb is just bout even with the bottom of the hood with a 1" spacer.
