Does anyone know how to repair the drive motors in these decks? The motor runs but not at correct speed and runs inconsistantly. Have tried electric motor cleaner, cleaned the brushes and stators and contacts. Any help would be greatly appreciated! !

If your willing to tinker with the deck yourself, get your hands on a Delco Radio service manual. I recently bought one through an eBay auction. This book has just about everything you'd want to know about the different radios, tape deck and reverb units that were available for the year the manual is for. These are technically oriented; i.e. they are for repair and adjustment as they contain the electrical schematics for all the above items and info on tuner alignment etc. The section on the tape deck goes through an adjustment for playback speed and flywheel freeplay as well as head alignment (using a special test 8 track). If I had a scanner (coming soon I hope) I'd zap you a copy of the appropriate pages...I can always xerox it an snail mail a copy to you if you'd like.

Hope this helps.
