I recently purchased a McLeod Street Twin clutch assy from summit, but in submitting the order I screwed up part numbers and ended up receiving an Olds. flywheel. Before I had noticed the mistake I had the flywheel zero balanced, so Summit wouldn't exchange it. I e-mailed McLeod to see if I could have the flywheel machined to fit a Pontiac. Red Roberts (the owner) quickly replied stating that McLeod would swap flywheels for me. I only had to pay shipping and a small set up fee (the Street Twin pressure plates and flywheel have to be matched up).

This saved me an enormous amount of grief and $$.

You can't order one from them already zero balanced for an internally balanced assembly?

I should think that would be more common than the stock imbalance these days . . .

The pontiac flywheel (alum) that I got had a counterbalance weight bolted on the engine side. I sent it to the machine shop to check it out just to be sure and it was pretty close to zero (w/ out the bolt on weight; the clutch was balanced independent of the flywheel).

I think that stock Pontiacs have slight counterbalance and so McLeod must be conforming to the stock specs. When I exchanged flywheels I asked if they (McLeod) could zero balance the new flywheel and they declined, but it was little trouble and money ($50) to have it done at a local machine shop.

Hmmm . . . I thought they offered both. That gives me something else to consider . . .
