Just to give everyone the heads-up on this Robert Ogden guy. Won a pair of 70-81 inner fenderwells from me (literally, as it turns out) on 10/30. Although in his previous 100 transactions he had a previous "incident" of screwing a seller (identical to this one, in 5/04), since all the other items from that week were paid-- and I live about 8 miles from the FedEx shipping center-- I decided to try to save a trip down there and trust that he wouldn't hang onto them as a gift if they arrived before he sent out a check or MO. It was stupid, of course, and I guess I got what I deserved, since I normally wouldn't think of it, except with someone who's an established 100% (or EXTREMELY close) or I've dealt with before, but I just wanted everyone here to not repeat my mistake if/when anyone deals with him. Waited 2 weeks before I even emailed to ask if anything was wrong; he was hollerin' that he didn't know what I was talking about. Said he swore he sent payment, but would check on it (what?). Claimed he sent out ANOTHER money order (and not even for the correct amt!), but naturally, he saved NEITHER receipt from these 2 alleged money orders of course. I waited ANOTHER 2 weeks and finally gave up on it. I realize most people here would be embarrassed to violate someone's trust like that but like I said, I just want to make sure that no one else EVER sends this guy anything until his funds have ARRIVED AND CLEARED. In fact, he's having a nice laugh over it right now in his response to my neg: "why would he ship if payment hadn't been received?", etc. That's what I get for trying to get his item to him faster I guess. It says a lot about a person what he does when no one's looking-- or when his item has arrived before payment's been sent. Thanks for your time everyone.

I have shipped items before recieving payment, but not on a high end part. Some people think I am nuts, but Ebay is based on trust. Someone sends you money, and they are trusting you to send them a product. Why shouldn't it be the other way?
I also never wait for a check to clear. I figure why would someone risk getting negative feedback for sending me a bad check. I've never been burned yet(Knock on wood)

Thanks for your replies. He be in Oshkosh, b'gosh. I obviously don't want him killed or threatened or anything (though I'm curious to know what he's done with MY fenderwells), but I'm more than a little bothered that he thinks I'm stupid enough to believe that BOTH of his alleged and RECEIPTLESS money orders were "lost in the mail"...AFTER his item arrived. C'mon, Jeez! When were they sent? No answer. For what amount? Wrong answer...I know I'd remember a disputed amt...AND WOULD KEEP AT LEAST 1 OUT OF 2 "RECEIPTS"! Lost once, I could buy...maybe...if I were to ignore the fact he pulled what sounds like this same exact thing on another ebay seller in May '04, including strangely offering to pay via PayPal (which I don't take anyway, sorry guys) after the 2 phantom $-orders, so he could later dispute the charge & have the acct frozen I'd assume.

You have 30 days with ebay to file complant, and they'll freeze him out of the system if its not resolved.
Let me know cause I do have a friend by Mount Vernon Street.

I had a problem w/ an ebayer and I called his local police dept. It took forever (6 months?), but I finally got merchandise.

Don't let him get away with it - harass him until the end of time.

When i sell om E-Bay i use the chinese saying. "no Tickey ,No Laundry" When the cash comes in, the merchandise goes out.

It was auction # 4584841217. As you can see, there isn't exactly a huge sum of $ involved. If there had been, yes, no tickey no laundry indeed-- unless I'd dealt with the person before, or he was at 100%-- and a separate trip down to FedEx would've happened-- assuming he WOULD have eventually paid if nothing had shown up yet... I do try to ship out right away to established 100% bidders though (which HE wasn't, but...), if I'm in the FedEx area anyway, to compensate for the fact I don't take PayPal. PY member 6T5 Cat for example, recently won an auction from me and with his 100% fb rating of over 400 I never gave it a second thought shipping his item out right away. Still, pursuing my fenderwell nightmare as a deterrent to other like-minded crooks does make sense. Take the NY State Dept of Taxation & Finance, for example, the equivalent of the IRS on steroids plus the Khmer Rouge squared: they wouldn't hesitate for a second to spend millions of dollars on an investigation if they think they're being screwed out of dozens of dollars.
