SCB Crank

Anybody have a good forged crank for a SBC. Stock 350 would work, maybe a 400.

Chevy steel cranks are getting pretty hard to find. The 1182 is the forging nmumber for the most prolific 350 steel crank. The 400 SB steel crank is rare as hen's teeth, from Chevy.

Eagle, Scat, Lunati, Crower, etc. etc. etc. all offer new SBC steel cranks in a variety of strokes. What is the specific application?

Well, it was a 377. 350 crank- 400 block. But, crank is cracked in 4 places, need rods and pistons as well. Block cracked in #6 cylinder, needs sleeved and filled. But, other than that it is in good shape:)
I will never buy another turn key car again.
It does have a good roller cam, Dart Pro 1 heads, Dart-Wilson intake though. I am at a stand still. Right now it looks as if it will take around $3,000 to get it back together. Car should go high 5's in eight in the Grand Am.
My plan was to put the 468 out of the digger in the Grand Am. Two reasons now have slowed that plan. Nobody wants the dragster, two, the dragster will win races now and I hate to take it apart.
I though of starting with a Pontiac and building it with the same money. Problem is, headers, front motor plate, Transmission bellhousing, and rear end gears. That would blow my budget spending $3,000 on the engine then doing the rest to make it fit.

We used the Eagle 412 "kit" in our SB400. it made enough power to reduce the block to a doorstop! We added the Dart Little M, and woohoo! 3,100 lb. Camaro went 8.96 @ 149 with a 400 "hit". We took the bottom apart to look when we sold the car (kept the motor!). After more than 20 passes on the 400 "fogger", no wear showing at all! Ring lands are perfect, too! At $2,200, it was the best kit I've ever used. 4340 forged crank, 6" H-beams, JE forgings and file-fits, Clevite H-series... It doesn't get a whole lot better!

Last month, we did the machine work for a guy doing a 377 for his "pullin' truck". We also supplied the Eagle kit for that one. Nice piece! He's very happy. About the same money, and all the same good parts.

I have until the first of the week to figure out what to do. I did find a stock standard crank (the guy was going to check tonight to see if he still had it deal) from a buddy....
If so, that would work. Had a lot going on today, had another hit on the digger, see what happens with that. Decisions decisions.
One thing, it is a 85 body, it did come with a corporate engine, so I don't feel really bad.
