Any one have any recommendations for an engine builder in northern Illinois?
My engine is the original 1967 400 from California. Any one had the smog pump rebuilt. I don't know what to do with it but I feel it should remain in the interest of originality. Car is a 1967 GTO hardtop with auto.
Thanks for any feedback

Ditto that. Wayne did my motor and I'm very happy with the overall experience. Worth the 2 hour drive. I see his website is down but PM me if you are interested in getting in contact with him. I have to drop him a line anyway to let him know I got my motor up and running.
If you can't get together with Wayne, Paul Knippen(?) posts here under the name "Paul K". I have no personal experience with Paul but I've talked to him on a couple of occaisions and have heard nothing but good things about his operation. He's in Suigar Grove, IL.

Ditto on Wayne. He's done at least three motors for me.

Another excellent engine builder in the SE Wisc. region is Dan Whitmore. His product is 1st class - no exceptions. He even keeps personal records on file for every job. He can go back 10 years, etc. and tell you everything done. He can be slow. Can give you phone # if interested.
