This is not a knock on the PP, just a question that's been bugging me.

Sometimes we see parts advertised like this throttle cable (which I happen need for my GTO). Does the wording make it sound like NOS or GM replacement part, or remanufactured part, or or or?

Parts Place ebay listing:
"OEM factory cable, not a generic replacement. This is the correct cable for 4BBL application on 1968 / 1969 / 1970 / 1971 GTO and LeMans models."

It is a reproduction. The Parts Place manufactures as well as sells parts, but they have been known to sometimes make their reproduction stuff sound like NOS in the ads.
Still, their quality is pretty good, and a lot of their repro stuff could almost pass for NOS.

based on that listing, I would say it is the GM cable that is still available from GM. If it said oem factory 'style' cable, then I would assume it is a correct reproduction. The GM cable is still available and they normally don't reproduce a cable that is still available unless the price has skyrocketed.

Sorry, I misread the post, thinking you were referring to the throttle cable BRACKET (which is available as a reproduction only).
The cable is still available through GM.

I just had a bad experience with The Parts Place. I recently purchased their Ram air exhaust manifolds from Ebay. They arrived without a problem. Then I emailed them and asked about bolts, gaskets, down pipes and other things I would need. I indicated they had several items of each on their web sites and could they provide me with the correct order numbers. After waiting and waiting their response basically said yes they have the parts but I need to look them up on the web site, Thanks guys. Yesterday I called them to ask the same questions. The guy who answered must have been having a bad day, he was less than friendly, and even after I had told him I had just purchased his manifolds. I thought he would have bent over backwards. Nope. I asked about their down pipes on their web site. They list standard and HO/RA down pipes. Well after a lengthy discussion about Ram air and HO manifolds compared to regular manifolds and both of us agreeing that there were D and round port heads I asked if there was a difference between the standard and HO/RA manifolds. His answer confused more than clarified the situation. All I wanted to know was if I need HO/RA or standard. I was concerned there was a different type for HO and RA. I then asked about the manifold bolts that were shown on the web site, He said what manifold bolts and they did not sell any. I said they were on the web site. By now I was frustrated. The problem with the bolts on their web site was that the bolts were called 3/8 X 1 1/2 but in the description stated they were 1 1/4 inches long. I asked why. He did not know. He said it did not matter since I need 3 inch bolts. Later, I measured and do not see how three inch bolts will work. Anyway I thanked him and hung up. After hanging up I realized I had forgot about the flanges. So I called right back. I got a different guy. So I asked him what type of flanges I need for my exhaust manifold. His first words were “we do not sell exhaust manifolds”. I told him I had a set in my hands. He agreed they sold them. Then I asked about flanges. I asked three bolts or two bolts. The web site shows standard down pipes comes in two and three bolts. There is no description for the HO/RA down pipes. So since I was using HO/RA down pipes and my manifolds have one with a three bolt connection and one with a two bolt. I asked if I need to buy one of each. I told him the picture of the down pipes on the web site shows a connector on the end that looks like two bolts. I asked if the HO/RA set had one two bolt and one with three. He said that it did not matter it was my choice if I used two or three bolts? I said thank you and hung up. Today I still do not know what to order. Maybe it was just me and the way that I was describing things.

Phil, Pypes supplies Parts Place with the downpipes and flanges. It is a fairly new addition to their line. You may have caught them not quite up to speed on the components necessary to finish. If you just purchased the HO/RA manifolds(same) from them, you would use DGA20 downpipes and either RPE660H (2 3bolt) or RPE662H(1 2bolt 1 3bolt) flanges. I'm not sure what style manifolds they are selling. You'll have to work through the bolt sizing issues with them.

Ccass,

Will the DGA20 downpipes and RPE662H(1 2bolt 1 3bolt) flanges work with original 2-1/4" RA manifolds? Your catalog states that DGA20 is for 2-1/2" manifolds.

In our catalog, both online and printed for GTO, it states that with the Round Port and D-port Ram Air manifolds they use a 2-bolt exhaust flange on one side and 3-bolt exhaust flange on the other side These are to be ordered seperately as they do not come with down pipes as stated in the description of the down pipes. The bolts we list are for mounting the exhaust manifolds to the cylinder heads; not the exhaust flanges to the exhaust manifolds. The exhaust manifold to head bolts are 1 1/2" over all and have 1 1/4" threaded length. But most all ram air bolts for holding the manifolds to the head are 2 1/2" to 3" long; we are working on reproducing those right now.

I don't know where the confusion came in, maybe you didn't have enough info for the guy to figure out, car-year-exhaust manifold style, but I hope this solves your questions. We have most of what you need. ;)

Thanks, Shane

FYI 64-67 Ram Air manifolds are the only years that uses 2 3-bolt flanges on a GTO

Phil- Hate to say this, but I think you were a big part of the problem. You should have taken a careful look at the manifolds that you bought, and you would have noticed immediately that one of them requires a two-bolt head pipe flange, and one requires a three-bolt. For those of us who have done this before, this setup is common knowledge.
So, you need one of each type of flange. As for hardware, the attachment of the pipes/flanges to the manifolds is accomplished with studs and nuts- NOT bolts. If bolts are shown or mentioned anywhere, the only possibility is that these would be used to attach the manifolds to the heads.
Just take your time, look things over carefully, and it will all make sense.

Gentlemen thank you for your replies. I have revisited the Parts Place web site and printed the pertinent pages for my problem. After careful studying I agree that I definitely caused some of the problems. However, having said that Shane I am still confused. You just said "The exhaust manifold to head bolts is 1 1/2” over all and has 1 1/4" threaded length.” Then you said “But most all ram air bolts for holding the manifolds to the head are 2 1/2" to 3" long; we are working on reproducing those right now." You are stating the same thing your employees said. Your advertised bolts are 1 1/2" but then you say most ram air bolts are 2 1/2 to 3" long. So which do I need? Also your EX4831G down pipes are for 2 1/2 ". Your Ram Air exhaust flanges both three and two bolt are 2 1/4". Are these compatible? ChiefPontiac above has noticed the same problem. Shane I was very impressed with your item for sale. You have everything. In fact I past you web site on to others as the place to go. But I think you need to improve so of your descriptions, remember some of us like me are cement heads. Also politeness could be improved. I will after these responses continue to shop at the Part Place. Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil,

You need 2 and 1/2 to 3" long bolts to attach those, you should be able to purchase them from a normal auto parts store or a muffler shop. We have special flanges available for 2 1/2 pipes, they are $37 a pair, you can see that they have been added to online catalog.
Thanks

Yes they still will work and seal nicely. You will still need to use the 2.5" flanges though.
