The car has a 307 with 200R4 now. Swapping to a 350 pontiac. Will the 200R4 bolt up or will it need to be changed or an adapter plate used? Any major changes besides mounts required?

Indian Adventures makes the brackets to bolt to the Pontiac 350 and uses your existing frame mounts. They also have headers for this swap. The trans will require an adaptor plate. :D

Sounds like someone has already did a swap in that car. Are you sure that you have your facts straight on the engine size and transmission type. If so, the 307 would likely be an Olsmobile design which has the same bellhousing pattern as Pontiac. Plus some, if not all 200R4's have the dual bolt pattern case that accepts both the Chevy and BOP blocks. The motor mounts can be used from any 73-77 Pontiac powered Lemans, Grand Am, and Grand Prix. You'll need all the accessory brackets and pulleys. Car probably started life as a 4.3 V8 260 ci Olds. I don't recall the VIN engine code. Not a bad engine as I had it in a 77 442 I drove daily for 6 years. Easiest swap would be to any Olds small block such as the 350 or 403. Olds 455 is slightly taller and may require different accessory brackets.
Check with the Trans Am guys as many of the 77-79 cars had the Olds 403.

if it's a 307 olds engine, the bellhousing will be the same. BOP stuff is the same. Altho a 200r4 in a 77 probably isn't org? don't know about the 307. Anyway, about those brackets...save your self some time, money, and major headaches...get the bracket assembly from a 301, and the crank and water pump pulleys, and you're set.
as long as you use 68(i think) and up heads, you'll have all the bolt holes you need, and that way you don't need to waste time finding brackets that might line up.
