my dad has ordered things for his 64 El Camino, and has not had a problem with them. I do remember some people with Pontiacs stating some parts were not as needed and having problems with them. I never have ordered any Pontiac parts through them as Ames and Performance Years have what I needed and Summit and Jegs get the aftermarket business.

I get their catalog and have started to order a couple times but by the time you pay their ridiculous shipping charges Performance Years and Ames beat them every time.

I ordered a complete interior kit from them last year. They sent me door panels and seat covers and charged me the full $2,000 for the order. At this point 75% of the order was still outstanding. I waited for 2 months to receive 70% of the remaining order and never did recieved the last 5% (small stuff, but I paid for it none the less). Whenever I called them about the outstannding items I was always told the items were on backorder and if I emailed them I didn't get a response.

After 4 months of B.S. I finally ordered the missing items from PY, got them in 5 days.

I personally will never give them any of my business.

as we got in a bind a few years back when funding for the GTOAA Drags fell through. Colin at OPG stepped up and donated the full $2000 needed to pay off the track rental. I'm sure he did not get it back in advertising, as a "mis-communication" with the track announcer failed to recognise his Company until halfway through the event. I have ordered many parts and received shipping discounts on things that really mattered, such as radiators and gas tanks. Quality seems similar to other parts houses, as many draw parts from the same sources. Good luck.

They Suck! Bought a part from them. They sent me the wrong part. Sent it back on my dime and they still wanted me to pay for shipping for the wrong part. The part weighed about a pound. They charged me 20.00 for shipping and I am only one state over. A 1 pound part costs around 4.50 to ship UPS from CA to AZ. Raised hell with the credit card Co. and they removed the shipping charges. Never again. Perf years is way better.

"They support the hobby." But as others have noted, they DON'T seem to support the hobbyists. JM 0.02

I won an E-bay auction for a $1 part from a big name vendor...sort of a promotional deal. Actually, it was a pair of sun visors. Shipping was $16.50 for one state away, and I was told "Well, you got a geal on the part." Not really. Visors were totally unuseable, but there was no picture in the auction, so I bit the bullet. Anyway, it's not just one vendor. I've had good and bad experiences with most of them. Same as with the Jeg's vs. Summit thing. I heard the same thing from both sides. Only one I've ever hear of doing call tags no questions asked was Ame's, and I'm not sure that they still do. Anyway, my original point was that I try to support those that help the hobby. OPG, Ames and PY have supported major events such as Norwalk and the GTOAA Drag Days that I have attended. I try to give back. I'm sure that everyone has a horror story or two, but it usually pans out for me. Good luck! Ron

They are OK, had to send back a couple of items, but it wasn't a problem. Perfer PY and Ames generally.

In 1999 I won their "Best Of Show" award when they used to have a once a year car show in July. 90% of the cars were Chevy's. I used to boast that my '65 GTO convertible won 1st place at a Chevy show.

Three months ago OPG advertised a big sale. I gave them a substantial order which was immediately charged to my credit card. Four weeks later still no parts. Called them and raised HELL. Sent a partial order of parts which arrived overnite and some regular UPS. Overnite parts were mostly wrong and damaged by their shipping department and the UPS order bill of lading did not match parts in boxes. Many parts on Bill of lading were
shown to be enclosed and were not there. Called them and they said they would check into it. Next day return call and asked me what they had shipped. They admitted to me that they were attempting to ascertain what was shipped to me by checking their existing inventory! After some conversation, I determined they had absolutely no idea what I had. About a dozen calls later and at least 10 separate shipments, I still do not have my complete order although I have paid my charge months ago. To add insult to injury, many of the parts were billed to me at regular and not earlier sale prices. I would never do business with them again and if you do it is at your own peril. Performance years has good quality, fair prices and they ship ASAP. Enough said.....

Well, I had placed an order before reading these last 3 replies. Of course, I get a confirmation today and most of what I need is out of stock. Also checked PY and Ames and they are also out of stock. The Parts Place Inc says they have them on their site, but not sure as I havent' talked to them.

Anyone know where I can get a set of arm rest pads and bases for 69 GTO in Parchment?

Seems many of these companies are reluctant to keep much of an inventory. It sure save them money but sure pi$$'s off their customers if what they want is out of stock. Recently it seems the the Parts Place is willing to keep more products for immediate availability. I've never purchased anything from the Parts Place, but I am usually willing to pay extra if all of my order is in stock and I can have what I need within a week. If one company has 7 of the 10 items I need and another company has 100% yet is a little more expensive, I'll go with the latter every time. Saves money on shipping and aggravation.

I too live close enough to OPGI that I can drive down when I need parts quick. I've bought stuff from them since August and haven't had a problem yet. Yes, stuff is on backorder, but in looking at how many cars they carry stock for over a number of years, and you realize why their warehouse is the size of a football field. I've since learned to call ahead to see if the parts are in stock, and that's made it a lot smoother.

Still order from PY and also Year one, as sometimes one has stuff the other doesn't and vice versa.

I have used OPG several times. Seems there is always a problem. They have shippped the wrong items and I have received damaged items, and then it seems the return process is far more involved with them than the others. The last order took 10 days to put in a box and get it out the back door. 15 days to receive, although they said it was all in stock. However they didn't waste any time charging my card. That was done within a few days. They are definitely my last resort. Much better service from Ames, Year one, PY, and Summit. Only use OPG if part is not available from someone else.

I also agree about the Parts Place, especially since they provide a lot of the repo. parts to other houses. But I was very leary, especially reading that any returned parts are subject to a 25% re-stocking fee. Always have to factor that in especially if you are not aware of fit or quality of the item you're ordering.

I just placed an order a couple weeks ago, several things on back-order and they did not charge my credit card for the out of stock items, and things have worked out great on past orders. Nothing worse than waiting for parts. Funny, never heard the guys from Overhauling complaining about back-order parts from OPG.

Count me in as another local who prefers Ames.

I went down to get my 65 interior only to find out it's backordered.

A month later, here is my blue 66 interior...wow, that was only a year off.

Sent it all back and got from Ames in a week. I had to take a hit with the shipping, but no tax.

I'd give them a 6 out of 10.

Have restored many cars over the years and will only use PY or Ames. Chris is a class act and have sold next to him at the GTOAA nats several years. When Steve owned Ames, he also was great, remember sitting in a big circle at the '85 nats drinking a bruski or 2 with him.

I am getting ready to place a huge order with PY for my 66.Probably will consist of complete full interior, fenders, hood, gas tank, fuel lines, brake lines, tail light panel, front bumper, emblems, weather stripping, and a bunch of other stuff.I spoke with them at Carlisle and they said to call the order in and they would bring my stuff to the VMP race,so I wouldn't pay shipping.Cool.

Same story with me guys, horrible backorders, and when I go down to Will Call parts I open them before I take them, because I've had parts busted in the box and found out when I got home (45 miles later).
I am actually going there this Saturday to see about the complete interior for my 69 vert. I have to be in the area anyway and its much easier to sit there witht eh guy and go throught o find out what exactly is in and out of stock.

I give them a 6 even though they are local for me. I prefer Ames and they are on the opposite side of the world from here

Ordered set of bucketseat covers plus rear in 70 GTO dk green. "In stock", so I ordered.
No one else had at the time. Called and called "Someone else got set" so I
waited almost two and half months, finally received, take box to upholstery shop, open box and was shipped bench seat set front. I was ready to quit the hobby. Its so darn frustrating almost not worth the headache of two hours on phone repeatedly trying to get through.
Part numbers ordered correctly by me and on invoice. I called and called and called and called. Phone lines are the worse in the biz.
They wanted to BILL my AMEX card AGAIN to re-order new replacement set AND wait for other set to come back before ordering with factory which didnt make sense.
Went up the ladder and got some help, I think, not sure yet.
I am still waiting on rush job replacement set supposed to be in within three weeks. Now at four+, and no credit on card yet for first set. Start calling again tomorrow.
I will say the guy really was understanding, nice and professional. He really tried to save my business but that the best part of the transaction.

I am not impressed with OPG. I ordered a few items from OPG and PY on the same day. I took less time to get my order from PY by two days and I live two states away from OPG.. When I got my OPG order it was incomplete even though the packing slip said it was shipped complete. After an e-mail and a phone call the rest of my order is supposed to be shipped is a few days. Did I say I'm not impressed? I ordered more parts today, this time from PY

OPG is not the same company they once were! I ordered a bunch of parts from them and when I got my E-mail conformation the mailing address was wrong and one part was wrong. After a half hour wait on the customer service line I got the address straightened out but the wrong part still showed up along with a back order on half the stuff. I got most of the order a month later but one item was still back ordered. Half hour later on the customer service line I find out the part is still being tooled and won't be done until maybe summer (this is March) could have told me that when I ordered. So I cancelled the B.O. part for a refund. To date I have called twice about the where abouts of my refund (40 mins. each call) and E-mailed them once with no reply, the next step will be to contact the BBB. So unless you have alot of time to wait for parts I'd recommend PY they have never let me down. I hope OPG is monitoring this site and maybe they'll figure out Overhaulin' won't be around forever but the enthusiest will!

More to my story as above and the seat covers.
I called FRI and spent the standard 15 minutes + on hold trying to get through.
Guy had facts in front of him on computer but "no way" of checking with PUI to see where order stands. The other guy got the product manager invloved and supposedly called PUI to put "rush order" in.
This guy was well polished (as first guy) making sure they didnt loose my business and full of excuses, aplogies.
They are getting realy good at this probably cause their service absoultely is bottom of the rating curve.
I hope they are reading this thread. They need to clean up their game.
Never again for me after this.

ANYONE HAVE PUI # DIRECT off catalog or something? I am calling Monday and see what their story is. Thanks in advance....

Last year, I got a flier from them talking about a "HUGE" 20% off sale. I took the opportunity to order both quarter panels I needed, a new hood, and a hood tach for my 70 gto. Had the price all figured up when I called. Wouldn't you know it, when I got the total, there had been "Dramatic price increases in the industry on body panels" and the order was hundreds more than even the regular price. Called Ames, had all the parts in less than 2 weeks. They had heard nothing of these dramatic price increases, and I paid the price listed in a 1 1/2 year old catalog. Go figure

Well, when I started this thread, I had ordered from them that day.

Had to call yesterday to complain that I still have not received all my parts.

Never again. Had to order boots and seal for my actuators. Ordered online friday from PY. Hadn't heard anything so I called yesterday. Heard what I hoped to hear... "I am sorry you didn't get the confirmation email, your parts shipped yesterday."

PY gets my business first.

Years ago when they started advertising in HPP, I sent them a check for $2 for one of their GTO catalogs. That was in January, and they sent a postcard saying that their catalog wouldn't be available until July.
Then I got a bill from a collection agency, I think it was Tele-check, saying that my $2 check had bounced, and they wanted like $40 if I remember correctly. Tele-check also put me on their nationwide bad check list.
Had to spend several dollars to call OPG and b!tch to get it taken care of. Couldn't believe they cashed a check in January when they knew they wouldn't deliver until at least July, and then turn it over to collection!

Needless to say, I have never ordered from them, and never will.

Well I got my refund check but it took another E-mail where I said I was contacting the BBB! I was told the check was mailed two weeks ago so I said I'd wait until the end of the week to see if it showed up. Long story, short, when the check arrived, it was postmarked the day after I sent the BBB E-mail! Whatever! I'll never use them again!

OK...... DONE WITH THESE BAFOONS....CLOSE TO SIX MONTHS NOW for PUI covers shipped WRONG and then NOT ORDERED SECOND TIME!
Called Friday and talked with new person who was most helpful person yet ......he checked into problem FRIDAY and MONDAY (today) and called this evening...BAD NEWS ...NO ONE EVEN ORDERED THE DARN COVERS! I had gone up to management level on the SECOND SET of these and ASSURED they were ordered and guy even "PUT IN SPECIAL CALL TO PUI TO GET EXPIDIATED" plus THREE TIMES I called after SECOND MESSUP and asked about order and told to wait they are coming, have patience....we dont know when they will ship..no way of knowing...blah , blah. Tonight after hearing bad news I requested manager on phone...he puts me to MICHAEL LANTZ, THE GM who cut me off in first sentaence and LAID THE BALME ON PUI.....blah blah blah PUIs fault... I cut back in and say BUT YOUR CO SCREWED UP THE ORDER THE FIRST TIME by NOT CHECKING THE BOX AND WORSE THE SECOND TIME, by not ordering and telling me they were on order three times!
I usually dont get this peeved with people but these guys are really dont appear even to care one bit (and I told him so) to which he rared up and said "well its rude of you to assertain that we dont care when its not our fault and I have listened patiently blah blah blah" to which I told him that judging from his tone and attitude when he came on the phone that (like most of the others) "he and his employees dont seem to give a flip about the customer" just get off the phone and leave me alone is how they come across. Guy calls me rude and cops attitude with me over phone and hes a GENERAL MANAGER!
If it were my company I would have offered up something to save the biz (coupon, free shipping) but not OPGI. NEVER AGAIN! HELP CHRIS! Should have placed with PY in first place, but remember they had "in stock" and no one else did, but they "lost the stock".
NOW WE WILL SEE IF MY AMEX CREDIT COMES THROUGH and I will post.

I had moved away from them after they shipped the wrong radio, and I had to keep the dash open a month waiting on the right one. I went back to them after two years in part from the free shipping on my order (over 300) and they had listed the correct gold vinyl paint I needed, so I put my order in. when the order, called in June 5, got to the house, they had shipped a green carpet, not the gold listed on the invoice. Yes, they got my money off the credit card instantly.

I called and was told they will send me a shipping label, and I have to ship back the carpet before they correct their mistake. He told me they could be out $120 if I didn't send the wrong one back and get a new one. So now I have to wait weeks more while I comply with their practice on an item that everyone else has in stock...Hello Mc Fly... I 'm the one feeling out $120, and after an overall 6 year history of buying which probably totals in the thousands, they don't trust me ???

Never again, I was cheap by stacking an order bacause of the free shipping charge, but PY, the Parts Place and Ames have always done it right. I also give PY great credit for this forum, and the courage to put their reputation on the line.

First time I ordered, they added about $20.00 S&H. Since then I have only order through their will-call as they are about 50 minutes up the freeway. I always call first to make sure it is in stock. Never had a problem with their merchandise, however. For the best stock parts I always go PY or Ames.

I guess I have been the lucky one. I have ordered a few times with OPGI with good success. I have ordered when they had a big sale or free shipping and it has worked fine with no damages. I have never been sent the wrong parts either. Once there was a couple of back order parts but they came in another week or 2 from the first shipment. I have also ordered parts from PY and Ames with no problems with either of them. For future parts I will consider carefully before ordering based on this posting.

One of the reasons prices are going up is with stuff made in asia, fuel costs are increasing freight rates.

I've used OPGI a couple of times with no problems. I call (don't go online) and make them check stock before I place an order. If they don't have it, I don't order it. If I order something it is because I need it and if a vendor doesn't have it in stock, I don't backorder. Just my quirk. One gripe is their prices are significantly higher than advertised in theeir "current" catalogs. Not happy about that one.
