View Full Version : Dash Bezel Restorer From TX. Never Again !!

Well, another bad deal. This time from someone pretty well known. I have needed a decent 67 Dash bezel for a long time. Bought a few from people known here, but they were always (three of them) damaged in shipping even though packaged well. So, I contacted the guy in TX who does the dash bezel restorations, and he said that he'd do one using his own decent core, and cost would be $550.00 and shipping. Bt, he offered me $20.00 each for my bad cores. Now, shiping them alone is mor than that, so I never went for it and just kept my collection of damaged ones. WHen I was ready, I tried bidding on one he had on eBay but after $570.00 still no reserve was met so I know it was meant as an advertizment. I called him many times before he responded and was told He would sell me one using a good core he had in stock, with a two week turn around. COst this time was $575.00 and shipping. However, he wanted a damaged core for parts, so I sent one just to not have him keep asking about them. Cost of shipping was on me too. Well, after a month and no response as to why the bezel was two weeks late, I never got a single answered email, oor a returned call when leaving many messages. Now,m almost three months later, I got a return call from a woman (wife maybe) saying that they used the damaged core I sent them and it was so bad it took much longer. I told her that that was not the agreement, but for a nice one already in stock. Next, she said she had no idea what arrangment her husband and I had, but she knew my bad core was a really hard job. And, I'd be getting it late this month. That's sucks, and it's plain disshonest, and Bull $%^&. They casked my cashiers check in a normal amount of time. Never called to say they were changing their promise, and never were decent enough to respond to my emails, or calls for almost three months. But what really sucks, is I didn't want the really bad core used, other than for parts like he said it would be. Now, I paid $575.00 and shipping for something that was pretty much useless in the first place. And, not for the core he said he had and could get back to me in two weeks ready to install.
I'd advise you to be very careful when dealing with this person. Never believe what he says, and unless you have no other options, try finding someone else to do the work. I expect to get back a bunch of responses from him saying how everything was not as I stated. BUt, I have worked and bought parts from a fe others on here, and each one has been outstanding. This hobby, has become less enjoyable, because of people taking advantage of those in need of services, because they know it hard to get work done. I kept every email I have from him as well as mine sent. Every phone call not answered is documented with a detailed phone bill. However, what's really bad is I am so feeling like taking a trip to TX, and have a little alone time with this guy. People forget something. Never mistake kindness for weakness. And never, ever stick the screws to someone you do not know, or do not know what their history, special skills, or net worth is. Treat people decent, and this clown could have had the common courtsy to return a call, or answer an email. The bezel, better be show worthy, or he's got problems he can't even dream of. This is like the time I started giving a new home owner in my area a bad time because his dog never stayed home, and once time I got mouthy and said I'd usa a slin shot on it if it came in my yard again. He must of loved that dog, because unknown to me his youngest son was a real live member of the Secrete Service, and for the next year, my mail was always late, missing home loan payments that were mailed, and cars started getting stopped alot for no reason. Other odd things like credit reports not showing loans were paid off like prior reports had. So, I was stupid because I didn't know who I was getting pissed at me. Lesson learned.
Watch him, he talks a slick line, and never again will he get a red cent from me. Good day. Mike Fisher in Clackamas, Oregon

The Name is DARRELL ROACH, And CONNIE. (817) 431-0001 in TX. By the way, I'm not just a disapointed or unhappy person. This project is going on eleven years, most of it because of people like him. He said he was a GTOAA concourse Judge, and so on. I remember when he first started in maybe 1998? People had a bad time with him. However, it was new and my first choice was almost six months out. If he did it to me, there has to be others too. Be careful, he talks a really good con.

Well, a few days ago I get a call before it's even light here and it's from These people saying the dash shoud be here in the next day or so. A fwe days pass, and another call saying that it arrived and he wanted a call from me to talk about it. Problem is, I never got it. The address he has is a secure mail drop that's always manned by people, and they didn't get anything. SO, I left a message on the TX companies phone saying they better call me because nothing ever came to me. And, they have and have had my correct address. Um it was right there on the big bank check I had to send in full payment in advance as well as everything else. SO, now I hear I have it. I don't have anything but more of the same BS as always. I was very ill for the past fwe days, and when I'm a little beter I'll try calling again. Want to bet they claim they sent it but it was loist? And I'll have to wait for a claim and so on, blah, blah, blah.... Mean while I've waited on this for so long, time and needed it a long time ago. Again, be cautious. Look at others, and if anyone knows of one of these for a 67 GTO fulluy restored and done right that's for sale. A none AC dash, let me know because soon I'll have to just face the facts I need to buy one and then take my flight to TX for a little pow wow. Heck, I'm the same fool who spent 30 k in attornies fees and almosy five years fighting the IRS to get my car back because they closed the shop working on it. No matter I had title to it. 30 k and years. for a car that's nice but nothing special. Other than it's Mine, and I do not like being F6$#2d over buy those who mistake politness or kindness for weakness. Only a fool is so foolish. So, you have the truth and like I said before, I can't be the only one these people have done this to. Good day friends and have a great weekend.

I've met and dealt with this guy before with mixed but overall good results, his company is Performance Restorations. I met him at the Pate swap meet a few years ago when he said he would look for some front signal lamps for my Lemans. I had looked elsewhere before with no success (other than millions and billions who said he had them but wanted some crazy amount of money) and was knocked over when Darrell found a pair of NOS units for a very reasonable price! He explained he knows some people that have NOS parts but don't know the applications only the part numbers so he had to look up the part numbers by application then check his connections and BINGO! So of course I jumped on it. However he also had a used "PONTIAC" deck lid emblem that I wanted but it disappeared and he never found it after he said he set it aside for me. Also, while waiting on my lamps, some dash bezel inserts showed up at my house that he meant to send to someone else which of course I returned and he said his wife made that mistake. So, my impression was that he is too busy or unorganized perhaps but that he tries to do the right thing so I personally couldn't pass any judgement against him. Since he didn't try to gouge me on the lights and actually came through I didn't get the impression at all that he's a bad guy, quite the opposite, maybe just needs some good help. I can certainly understand your frustration and I would be just as frustrated. I sure hope he comes through for you on your dash.

I've never dealt with Darrel or Performance Restorations but after finding out they wanted $575 + shipping for a restored '67 bezel I figured there had to be a better way.
So I bought a mediocre core off e-bay and sent it to Mr. G's in TX to be repaired, replated, and repainted. The core cost me $30 including shipping, plus another $8 to mail it to Mr. G's. It took Mr. G's 4 weeks and $300 to redo the bezel and send it back to me. Add another 40 bucks for new woodgrain from PY and voila, a very nice looking bezel for $200 less than Performance Restorations wanted.

You should put Performance Restorations in the title of the Post. What are they going to do? Sue you for slander?
Personally, I dealt with these guys last year. I sent them my A/C vents to restore. They did an outstanding job, but their customer service was terrible. Did not return phone calls, the job took months. In fact, they set my interior restoration back about a month. They talk a good game, but very slow and unresponsive, like a Chevy.
Anyhow, they do good work, but it costs $$$$ and be prepared to wait a long time.

I wouldn't put it past anyone, people have been sued for less.
Like I said before, I'm friends with Darrel Roach, and he is a great guy for the hobby. He's at every POCI and GTOAA event and he always is judging the 67 Concourse class. The guy knows his stuff. About 98% of the dashes you see in the concours class have been restored by Darrel. I will guarentee that Mr G's isn't showing much representation. I'm not making excuses, but this is somewhat of a timely manner. Darrel operates alone and his work load is to the max, especially 2 months from GTOAA Nat's in July. Give the guy a break, he's never stiffed anyone and never plans on doing it. And...truthfully...he doesn't do it for the money! He's done numerous dashes for me and believe me, its worth the wait.

Well, it did come back and was packaged ver, very, well. Brand new box, and lots of well used bubble wrap.
Opened the box and it was also sealed in plastic which was nice. But, this dash bezel is such a piece of junk I'd not consider using it on my car for anything. And, I'm not that pickey. Keep in mind I would have never allowed this bezel to be rebuilt, as others had already turned it down. I was told, he wanted it for parts on others, and he had a really nice core he'd use for mine. Which, is why it cost me $575.00 plus shipping the core It has visibale repair areas where it had holes drilled in the top, to mount some kind of compus or something. One hole was about .75 of an inch. Two smaller ones along side. And busted corners. Which, is why this was never meant to be used, but it was free so I had it here in case some one wanted it for free. I told him it was not worth the cost of shipping it but he insisted that is price was good with a core he could use for parts. I EVEN TOLD HIM TO NOT REPAIR IT AND SELL IT ON EBAY OR I'D NOT AGREE TO SEND IT. He said, of course not that he wanted it to cut pieces from to repair other people's dashes with. Who, had no other choice than to use what they had. When my check arrived in Keller Texas, he never even called. The core got there, no calls or anything. In fact, I believed he had taken the cash and was ignoring me.
Always dodged calls, never answered emails. And three weeks, turned into several months. In fact, once he got my check I never heard from him again. Connie called and when she said she had a hard time repairing all the holse, I said what??? I stoppeed her and said that junk core was not to ever be used for anyone. That, was my only agreement for sending it. Connie, acted like she didn't hear a single word I said. And started talking about the paint, and when I said I wanted to speak with Darrell, she just said he was not around and my dash would be on it's way in a couple of days. He, dodged me like the dog he is, not able to speak with me because of the lies he told, and the word he gave and broke not once, but every time he'd not talk to me.
Anyway the Paint is not even up to the edge's, and the black around the gauge's is flaking. Yep, that's right the black paint inside the gauge pockets, is falling out. But, they are also full of dirt, and other pieces of junk as they are like sand paper in places, rather than feeloing smooth. This was a fast and shoddy job.
The best chrome , in on the back of the dash, that's a fact. What will never be seen, is better than what will be seen. However, I am never useing this in my car, and I'd never pawn it off on some other poor person. I tried to call twice sincs it's got here, and no returned calls. Oh yeah, and the front on two eyebrows. Paint which is red, does not even meet the edge of where the chrome starts by enough that it looks soooo sloppy. The repaired area is in the upper left corrner, and even the paint which is black, does not match the rest of the black paint. Repair is not even close to being hidden as there is a big ugly round visibal plug where you can see he tried patching the big hole that was drilled through the top. And then, it's not even smoothed over. I sent this months ago, and never had any contact until late last month, and when I ogt it back he had signed the back, with May 02, 2006.
I was had by this guy. Plain and simple, which is why he will not return calls.
So, my plans are to go to Tiger Run. Huge event, along with this dash. And then, also take along every magazine I can see where they advertise. I'm going to show it around to as many people I personally know, and then I'm going to take one of those A frame signs with me. Attach my email with him where he said $575.00 and in a three week turn around. I'll have the cashiers check stub, and the banks statment as when it was cashed. Then, I will look for some of the many, many people I know in this hobby, and show them my piece of crap. Tell them who did the job, and ask them to pass the word along as to how he can tret people. And then, advise them to look for someone better. A great company from what I have since learned and have seen in person their work, is American Classic. I also here they take about as long as mine did by Performance Restorations. However, I'm now looking for a decent used care, and I'll ship it to them, and what I will get back, will be really, very nice. The part I have, I waited so long for andit's not even worth using. Sure, if you have a DAILE DRIVER that you really do drive a lot. Then, it would be better than most of the used ones on the road. BUt, never, ever for nice show and shine car, let alone a points car. Or even a car that's restored pretty well like some are and when someone sticks their hed in the window to have a look and sees the dash. Nope, my car took Light Years and billions to get this far. Again, I'm not asking for stunning here. But those of you who don't use your cars for a dailey driver wouldn't want it in your own car.
So, if anyone has a decent bezel for sell, and I do not want any pity from anyone I will talk about it with you. My reason for doing this. And, for being so out in front about it is simple. I have proof I'm being honest, and that they were not honest. I'm also, able to call upon others who are well known here to confirm the state of my core because I bought it from we are close by each other. And, then I also have member who deal with me and know my word is not only good, but I'm very thankful for every single item I pay for that gets my car close to being done. That's correct, I'm touched when people sell me things at any price I need and the part is a help. I, make sure I personally thank them and then go back to them when I need something. ONe member is even going to be listed on my sign I'll have on display next to my car at shows. I'm proud to show these people what I do when I buy a part from them and how it looks after I work with it, or have it worked on. So, my word is my bond, and I have nothing worth more to me than my bond. I live an honorbal life, and treat others with kindness. That does not, mean I'm weak or an idiot. Be careful who you dance with as they just may turn out to be dipping into your back pocket, as the wisper in your ear. I'm also to blame, because the red flag should have gone up, when they insisted on having that butt ugly core. Also, two weeks prior when I first talked with Performance Restorations in Keller Texas About them supplying the bezel, useing a solid core because I had nothing worth fixing. The cost was $550.00 and a $20.00 credit for any parts cores I could send them. I asked them how that would help, when shipping was more than the credit? Again, that should have been a red flag. But, I wanted to wait a couple of weeks while another member sent me a Bezel, so the cost would be lower as they had a really very nice piece to have restored. Problem is, it was busted in shipping. So, I went with the full meal deal, and lost not only $600.00 with shipping and more. I also lost valubale months waiting to get back something only useable as a piece until something decent came along. Again, watch these people. Performance Restorations may just make you. Their next chump. Of course, I am going to be sending a demand letter for a full refund for the total cost involved. One more tiger run missed out on for another year. More club mettings where I drive a 68 Firebird and park beside the GTO's, rather amoung them. Thanks Darrel & Connie. I hope the dollars are worth the anger, hurt feelings, and lost time you cause others. Thank you for allowing me to print my story. I am not feeling one bit sorry for myself. I have done nothing to be sorry for. And I will not allow my feelings about this to eat at me until this project starts to become more negative memories, than good ones. I have dealt with some of the worlds best people working on this car. I have learned from others what no amount of money or time could buy me. I have been touched by what some will go through for me just to dig out some small part I really need, and at a price that's not really worth their time or bother. They as well as myself don't just see the dollar signs, we take a personal satasfaction in knowing that when we see that beautiful car and it's happy owner. We, has some part in their being happy and proud. That's, why we all do what we do. Fact is, I could have bought one completed for way less, back when I bought this one for what I now have in it. Or, saved money by simply writing a check and handing the keys over to some one that did it for a living. Again, that's not what it's about. Not for me anyway. Good day friends. And thank you for everything. I'm looking for a few parts,so I'll go shopping for a little while in the other sections. < Mike >

Mike, they got me too. I'm so pissed off at Performance Restorations that I went on a search and found this thread. Everything you said also happened to me. I couldn't send them my dash as a core so they said they would restore a very nice dash that they had as a core from someone else. I was quoted $550.00 for the restored dash and I would be sent a check for $125.00 once they received my original dash. Sounded great, but all hell broke loose once I tried to call again and again when I hadn't received my dash for 2 months. I didn't get a call back for about a month, started to get a little nervous. Finally Connie called me and said they were in process of switching to a new plater because their last one was putting out shoddy work. She said it would be another month or so. I didn't get my dash for another 3 months. The workmanship was horrible. The chrome, paint and repair work was evidently very rushed. The wood trim was loose at about 10 places. Anyway, I would never do business with them again. BTW, they received my dash in May and I'm still waiting for a check. I called and left a message saying that I would be contacting the BBB and beginning legal proceedings and I got a call the next day saying a check would be in the mail. That was about a month ago.

I know that this subject comes up a lot. A lot of people are upset over the lack of service from Performance Restorations. I have used Mr. G's on a couple of occasions with excellent results. You don't get back your original core, he will just sent you another one that he has in stock and has been restored. Turnaround time is about 2-3 weeks.
My 67 dash looked great after I received it, but a portion of the black paint was mising. I called him up and discussed it with him. Mr. G (Glen) cut a deal with me and I was able to touch the thin paint OK.
Previous to that, he replated the ventilation vents, instrument housing, and heater control panel on my 69 GTO. No problems and the work was excellent.
His fasteners are an extensive collection and I've order a few from him also.
There have been complaints about Mr. G on this website. But he always responds to my emails within a day or two. I have talked to him on the phone with good results. My suggestion is keep your conversation short and to the point in all communications.

Performance Restorations has a reputation for the best GTO Dash restorations in the Pontiac hobby. (They are also responsible for the nicest dash woodgrain kits available.) Very few of you have any idea of the work involved, the steps involved and the things that can go wrong with a service of this nature. I can guarantee that you will find an RR67GTO experience with each and every one of those that perform this service. From personal experience, for about 7 years, Performance Years was one of the sources for this service as we used both Performance Restorations and Mr. G's as well as another company that went out of business. We had several RR67GTO's that we have probably lost as customers forever because of the nature of this service. It's slow and it's never perfect and most importantly, it's very hard to communicate the terms of a sale because each sale is completely different because each part restored is different. That's why PY will have nothing to do with this service anymore. These dashes begin as 'used' 40 year old dashes! As you can see by several posts above, there are only 3or 4 performing this service nationwide. Only Performance Restorations specializes in 'Pontiac only'. The reason why I am defending this company from this bad publicity is that for every RR67GTO experience, there are probably 25 completely satisfied customers. He may have every right to be upset. More likely than not though, as with most bad deals, lack of communication by both parties (and the nature of this service) is usually at the root and I suspect that if RR spent a month having to perform this service, he'd be much more sympathetic to the situation. The point is that you as the Pontiac hobby have very few choices for this service and ALL OF THEM are always busy and seem to take forever. So don't let one person's bad experience close the door on a long standing, quality service.
my .02 and RR I am not taking sides. Just don't want this topic go unfairly lopsided.

THANK YOU Ccass for putting your .02 here. Daryll did the dash in my 66 GTO and brought a really sh*tty console back to life and it makes my car look great. I have visited with Daryll many times and he is a true asset to the Pontiac restoration hobby (business) what ever name you want to call it. Me and my partner are starting to restore more cars and will use Daryll without fail. Trying to complete a $ 40,000+ car I would trust no one else. What all these guy DO NOT UNDERSTAND is that D.R. does this on the side for all of those of us in the hobby to enjoy the fruits of his labor. FYI, in the last week I have had atleast 6 guys PM for dash restoration information and i directed them to Daryll and will continue to do so. If you want to know more, send me a PM and I will discuss it with you, cause I will not get in a pi**ing contest with the few malcontents.

lkt1954, you talk out of both sides. I have sold Daryll several dash bezels in the past and he has recently called and am sure wants more, but I WILL not sell anymore. My HUGE problem is this: whether a man is in a business full time, part time or any wear in between, if his word is no good, the quality doesn't mean ****. Before RR67GTO, there was another person in my/our club that was burned by Daryll and it took a ton of politics to make it right. So until he really does what he says he will, he is a zero on my list. And a little footnote to CCass. We have known each other for many years and from this end, with the utmost respect. However, restoring GOOD core dashes is not all that difficult. You and I know the trouble begins when trying to make pumpkin pie out of cow****. I do believe Daryll is trying to do that and has been caught.............can he not speak for himself????. Do not get the whole picture on his end.

:argue: Let me make something clear here. The only lack of anything with my dealings from hell with these people, were on their part 100%. They lied, they promised a service, and part, they did not come close to providing. And they would not return a single call or email for the first six months. Yeah, because I was promised for the higher price I would have it in two weeks.
I however tried making contact with them eleven times by email, and left a voice mail on their phone line each week from the day I had confirmation that they got the "parts only" dash. He asked me for it since it was worthless to me. And, wanted to credit me $20.00 for. That, didn't even cover shipping cost to send it. But because I agreed, I sent it to keep my word. I even made sure to have him tell me he'd not try and rebuild it. But rather use it, for parts only so others could have their own bezel repaired. But, he did just what he said he'd not do, and patched it shipped it back to me.
So, what happened was fraud, plain and simple. The company knew what they had promised. Demanded payment in advance. And, didn't do a single thing they were paid for. They did not use the parts they charged me for. Which was a very nice bezel I was told they had to restore for me. And yes, the money was to him in less than three days sent priority mail in secure funds. And then, rather than the two weeks turn around I was promised for the amount I paid. It took close to six months to get back my own trash.
Why would I go through the trouble for a little over $600.00, if it were not simply to expose them for what they did? And, only a fool would think that simply because they did what they were paid to do part of the time. Gives them an excuse for the times they didn't do what they said, and or were paid to do. And, why wont they return any of my calls or email I've sent since learning I'd been screwed? You know the answer already. So, once again because the market is ripe, some company takes advantage of others wanting to make the fast money while they can. And by the way MR Admin. this is mainly in response to your faith in this bum and his company. Anyone believe they did a good job for me? I'll sell them my bezel with his sticker still attached and in the same box it was shipped back in. For 30 cents on the dollar for what I have into it. As is of course. Any takers or believers in this company, willing to pay $300.00 for some of his handy work? Let me know, I stand behind my word. Now, edit this, or delete it if you feel the need. I have posted this at other places as well. Good morning everyone. < Mike >

ccass,i must disagree.my wood kit is nothing more than contact paper.no metal backing or anything.has peeled since day one.console kit is worse.i know D.R. personally and the replies to this thread are accurate.
I was referring to the 65-66 kits that are real wood. His fit the best. They are also prestained and they have a peel and stick back. Nobody else does this. I agree there is no metal backing but there is a fairly thick vinyl backing that creates the same thickness and rigidity as the original metal backed dashes and once installed looks very original. The current reproduction metal backed wood kits have a thick metal backing that looks very noticably incorrect once installed. Also you have to stain the wood yourself as well as glue in place. All little things that add up. As far as the vinyl inserts, it still sure sounds like you got somebody elses vinyl insert. If you did in fact get his, you should see how bad the other brand is! Again, his are much thicker than the other brand we carry and the peeling is far less an issue with his inserts.

I think that this boils down to the issue whether or not some one is taking being in business seriously. Business is business and it is not a hobby where you can set your own timetable.
Anyone who seeks goods or services seeks certain criteria such as timeliness, good quality, fulfilled commitments, fair pricing, good communication, and follow up if there is a warranty issue.
I've been a self employed commerical general contractor for over twenty years. I have a good reputation for quality, value added services, timliness, etc. I can't get away with doing anything half-assed.
Apparently, neither can Darrellget away with doing things sloppy. Those that know him ought to review this thread with him and in a nice way, help him either set up his business properly with realistic turn arounds, charge the right amount of money so that he can offer the services that the market demands, and set up customer service properly.
There is a real demand for his services in restoring GTO dashes. All they guy has to do is fulfill that demand according to the requirements of the market place.

ccass, nope,it was from him.picked up my dash straight from his house along
with the console kit.was about around 2000 or 2001 .what seems to be
the main problem is his poor customer service skills.excuses are one thing, but at LEAST return phone calls/emails.that sure goes along way.if you can get a hold of dr.he's an ok guy.

I guess with the Texas heat they can still peel, However re-read my post. His are better than the others available. I guarantee the others would peel and wrinkle worse than your experience. I have used both versions for years.

i also sent a dash bezel to tx and was told my near perfect dash board arrived damaged, but was told they could fix the damage for an extra cost,so not seeing the damage told them to go ahead with the work.well after 6 months and no dash and no returned call or emails was fianlly called and told dash would be done at the end of the week, again waited and waited,no dash, call them again and again, get a call telling me it was sent out,no dash check the tracking number they gave me and they sent it to the wrong address.go and pick it up and open the box and dash wasd in three pieces, and on top of that they sent me the wrong dash, they sent me some one else's dash, call them again no return call finaly the wife calls me back and tells me that fedex needs the dash back and that they will only give me 300.00 for a dash i just payed them twice that to repair it.two months later finally get money from fedex and no dash, the money i got didn't even cover the cost of finding a new bezel which cost me close to 600.00 to replace

I'm sorry to hear that you have also had problems with this company. It seems, that the best thing would be for others to consider this before sending them any work they need done. People on other fourms. And, people in car clubs who I know, have said they have also had problems with this company. And others have said they were happy with the work they have done. So, spin the wheel and place your bets. :)

Mike,
Your description of events between us is amazing. I am not sure how you could be so wrong about the conversations that we had about the core you were to send us. You were told up front that we needed a good quality core to start with. We turned your dash around in a 6-week period. I have pictures of the quality of our work. We made 4 calls to you after you received the dash and you never would talk to us. I guess that you would rather talk to people at 2:30 am, after all that's when you tried to call our business. I wonder why, if you were so unhappy with the dash that you did not talk to us about it. We are more than reasonable, up to a point. When you decided to commit libel and slander against me, is when you made the decision not to be reasonable. I have emailed you for an address, but you will not even respond. I think you know why I want an address for you, and that's why you hide behind a mailing centers address. A-Body has made a good observation about you, and I think he and others are correct. You are never happy about anything that someone restores for you even when you receive good work. At some point, there will be no one left who will deal with you! I also talk to everyone about this situation. I want them to know the truth about what happened.
Sincerely,
Darrell Roach

I refuse to get into a pissing contest with you, but your telling a huge lie. I have the confirmation from when you got my check, and the crap core you promised was for parts only. And then, I have the confirmation from when it was sent back to me and it's five month. I also know others have had problems with you. My mailing address is a place to send and get packages, because in my area only UPS will come this far each day. I, use FedEx only unless I have no other choice. So, I'm not hiding but like my local post office, that's twelve miles from here. I send mail, ship and so on from a place I can walk to rather than drive across my county. As far as hiding goes, you are one of those who hide your auctions as well as feedback because you don't ant others to know how you really deal. I may have been taken by you, but the fact is, you lost so much more than just anything I may have had you do again. You lost the trust of others who have read my post on pontiac sites. Because, before some of them decide to simply ship you something. The'll remember this and the others who have had trouble with you. And, look for someone else to have their work done by. Someone who they can send it to and not remember the things people have said about you. And not said about the others. As far as I'm concerned, what goes around comes around. And just as I've said before, don't judge people before you know them. I can judge you, because I know you to be a person of without honor. And ya know! That's something no amount of money can buy you, or no amount of BS will allow you to feel. By the way, I wrote a letter along with some details and paper work to the GTOAA on your dealings. Tell me something, if you were a decent Judge of these cars, how many points would you deduct from my car if I had the guts to install the dash you sent and charged me for? How many points would it cost me using something that you yourself made? Don't bother, in fifty years you'll still never get it. I do not wish you any bad luck or problems. I'm the one who feels bad, because I can't use a service from a company I trusted. And that means, more looking around. And by the way, most places I deal with do a very good and decent job. Dash came back wonderful. Dewey does a wonderful job on the boosters, Merl did all my tri powre carbs and plated them for a very fair price, and in less than ten days. Legendary took responsibility and made things right. Which by the way they never disputed anything I complained about. Also, Break booster rebuild was great and looks like new, wheels were better than I expected when I had them done. Now, you mentioned everyone I have anything restored from I'm never happy with. See, you don't even read what I'm posting. I have not posted any problems about having any parts restored. Other than from you of course. But hey !! Did you read the post right above your post? Silly you, that's another person you did medician with and he ain't the whole list of your fan that much you already know more than anyone. I'm done now, and will only work from my end to see that no one I know has the chance to deal with you, and lose. We know some of the same people which was new to you, and the sad part of it is that when you started out. I, asked others to allow you the chance to get things going because you were the only one doing it. And yeah, you can and have done great work many, many times. Why else would I have sent my 700 bucks to you? bye now

Now, did I say he never does decent work? No, I never have. However, when mine came after several months it was peeling right out of the box. again, don't judge me until you know the facts. At one time, we were getting help from those who were responsibile for 9-11, or are you to wet behind the ears to remember back that far. Again, I never said he never did decent work. Why would I have sent paid him for his bezel and more money for a fast turn around if I didn't believe he was stand up. Read what some of the others say. Like right up the road a few post's from you. You may have a nice car, but how many times have you used his service, once? Like I said, read what some of the others have to say. And then, write to The goat herd GTO Club of Portland and ask them what they think. GTOAA club of the year six times, and sponser of Tiger Run from day one. He's caused enough problems in that club alone, they won't even take his ads even if he wanted them. Which by the way he used to run his ad in the news letter from the goat herd. Until they refused to except it. And Ain't it nice, yer another Texan, and close enough to vist the guy if he were to screw you enough you were PO'd. So of course, he's not going to stick it to you. I never said he was an imbecile. MY OFFER STILL STANDS. BUY ONE OF HIS $700.00 RESTOS FOR $200.00 and shipping. Same box, same invoice (with dates showing he lied in his post) So how about it skeptics? Who's packing the gear to spend the small amount of 200 bucks to eat your words. And, man enough to admitt it once you own what I paid seve for? By the way, I mean what I say, and I'm a man of honor and willing to ...happy has heck to get two bill for it. So come one Tex, send me secure funds and it's yours. And then, you can photograph the heck out ot it and show the whole world. Mine even has my name on it he placed there himself, so no switching on my part. Now, either pay up or let me respond when needed about this chump because others do not need to learn the way I did. Or, the way many others have. Just because the locals get nice work does not mean everyone gets the same thing. Decide for yourself, but if anyone who's considering having him do work done by him. Remember this, you can't complain once it happens to you too. Because, you have other choices and you've heard from myself and others how he deals at times. And like the other member says. Fool around, get hurt, don't come crying to me. :)~~~~* Now, no hard feelings people. I am still betting I can get someone to spend $200.00 and I'll take the money and send my bezel to one of the others who have never had anything bad said. They take a while and cost a bit but what's it worth to have it done nice and done without it peeling before you even get it back?
OK, now I'm also looking for a set of E heads in nice condition. Willing to pay ohhhh 300 if they are nice. Let me know. < Mike >

Heeeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyyyy Darrell. Am proud to announce that I may have turned off 2, hopefully 3 people in my area that were thinking about you restoring? their dashes. You make it right with Mike Fisher and we can talk. What I advised these people to do was read this thread and think real hard.

Thanks for the heads up man! .......I have read this entire thread and came to the conclusion that I will NEVER deal with the accused if I needed a dash restoration!.....It appears, by the posts, that the accused does do good, decent work 99.9% of the time however it's still not 100% and that's what bothers me!.....The one tenth of a percent of people who are not satisified with shoddy workmanship deserve a better deal or a complete refund and NOT be ignored just because you're not part of the 99.9%!.....This sounds like bad business practices and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau which I suggest everyone should check into before dealing with any so called reputable businesses!......The right thing for the accused to do would be to refund the BIG money spent or send an EXCELLENT restored, to the best of the accused ability, dash!......Thanks again for the warning!

I'm sorry to read about all the problems you people are having with Darrell. I bought a bezel from him 2 years ago for my 68. I didn't send in the core as the radio bar was cut out. I have no complaints about any of the process and must say that I was highly impressed with the quality of the work. I bezel looks outstanding with absolutely no visible blemishes. I guess I am one of the 99%ers but I would have no hesitation sending him more work.

Guys,I cant say that I have delt with Mr.Roach, other than meeting him.I spoke to he & his wife at Greenville 05 about a dash bezel and ashtray resto..I thought they were on the high side on pricing. He acted as if he didnt have the time to talk with me,or care if I did bussiness with them or not?So I didnt use their service.(personality goes a long way).I want to chime in on another party doing this work.AutoInstruments.com.I have used him several time for clock resto.s,and turnaround and workmanship were outstanding.Im going to have them restore a 66Lemans dash for me soon.($308)This seems very resonable to me.They are located in Matinsville,Va.I will let you know how it turns out.I think these boards are doing what they are supposed to do,let you read opinons and make your own.Everyone keep-up the good work,Kenny

Yes it can be a real EYE OPENER. I have adjusted my consumer behavior based on how vendors handle them selves. I hope I have adjusted other consumers behavior as well! The Bottom line is the bottom line. The buck stops here!
