OK, I know the story about their fine interiors, and I also decided to buy a complete interior for my 67 GTO. Even the small parts like door emblems and so on. The guy I talked with after going through the catalog was fine. We worked out the items I wanted, and he had a few that were not yet in the catalog to inform me about. I placed my order with him and that's the last time anything went well or right with these people.

The person who took my order was one of the higher ups in the company, and had to leave right after my order was placed for a few months of attending shows and things. Well, the first thing I said to him was to not use UPS because in my area they are really, really, hard on things. He made a note, and when the others started shipping my items, not only were some of the coverings in the wrong pattern. Some were bent because they did use UPS as the shipper. Ever try and get a claim from UPS ??

My interior is red. And, I was sent black arm rest. When I called to ask for a return on them I was told that they only had them in black. And, I was going to have to pay return shipping. Everything is red, and they wanted me to use black arm rest. Neat idea. By the way, everyone else I dealt with there after the "real" guy was gone were idiots to the max. Now, my order was placed in December 12, 1905. Now it's late April, and I'm still waiting for a couple of pieces. I was given free shipping by the guy who took my order, because it was a sale they had going on over the net at the time. Yet, I've had to pay hundreds in shipping cost alone. Because, the guy who took my order forgot to write it down on the parts order sheet. When things started to go bad, I asked them to please call the guy who I dealt with,so we could get things worked out. And their answer was, that he was busy and they would not interupt him because of one person who seemd to have a problem. Meaning me.

My order was for over $1500.00, but since they charged shipping it was much more. By the way. Yes, I did get the FREE shipping agreement in writing. I was asked to fax them a copy of it. And they said it was not Jacks writing. So now, they are saying I forged it?Me commiting fraud? They really need to work on their manners.

So, yep they have a real nice product, but what good is it when they treat people bad? The fact is, I'm always a very polite person. I owned my own accounting company for 23 years. I know how to be polite, understanding of a mistake, and those who have a bad day. But, these people who work the Legendary service department. And who deal with problems. Are worse that anything I have incountered.

And one of the first thing this company needs to learn, is who the profit is and who the overhead is. We are the profit, and they need us a profit to to eat, pay the house payments, and send little jonny to violin lessons. Without a profit, you just can't stay in there producing anything for very long. Now, the service personal working for them are the overhead. Meaning they cut into the profit. And so, they need to be making money for the company. If the company losses orders because of personal. They need to replace them, or the house will go back to the bank. They'll have to hunt for their food, rather than buy it. And little jonny will be stuck playing the tuba in the school band, because it's one of the free instruments schools supply. Because, no kid in the world looks cool playing them. This is very simple to understand. Bad employees, do not make money for a company very long unless something is not right or legal. And so far, only the guy who worked through my order with me was the only one who has not talked to me like I didn't know what I wanted, or that I had no idea what was correct. Never even considering it was all worked out in advance. I pry each night, that the missing guy on the road is the owner. Or someone like the CEO. I have a detailed writen history of what has gone on, and I get a woody just thinking about whos heads roll once he knows he's lost a customer who would have ended up with two more complete kids down the road. More, if they start the Firebird line. 1967 GTO red interior is not a basketweave pattern. Not in 67 anyway. But when they made the sun visors. Thats what they used. And, I, had to pay shipping them back and wait for new ones to be made. Then, pay shipping again to have them sent to me. Even though the interior kit was another pattern. Not that the visors were the first or last part that were wrong. When I complained about paying for them at all, and then paying twice for shipping. I was told I could always go find them elseware. I really liked that response. Anyway, my order placed on Dec 12 2005, here it's April 06, and I'm still waiting. The bad part of it is I had planed having the car ready by now and meeting the guy who took my order at the Tiger Run. He said to bring the car because he'd like to see it and like to meet me.

Little does he know, I'm still waiting for parts. Nuff said. Fine product, if you have the time to wait, and the time to return and listen to people talk down to you. There will be no next time for me. I'll buy the crap before I'm treated like crap. Now, did someone say something about what a pretty morning it is? Yes indeed, I believe I'll go fish catching. Thanks friends, and good day to all. Byebeybyebyebye Mike

I have an idea. Go to the Tiger Run with a large sign that says "I would have brought my GTO and parked it here, but Legendary Interiors could not fill my order within the last 5 months." I bet you will meet the guy that took your order.

I have a copy of the Legendary catalog on my shelf. The guys that I met last July at the GTOAA nationals in St. Louis were all excited about their new GTO line and seemed very accommodating. After reading your saga, I believe that I'll add their material to the recycling. Thanks for the heads-up and sorry for your troubles.

Sorry to hear of your problems, after all the good stuff said about Lengendary by a friend who owns a Mopar I was hopeful they would come out with some good second gen firebird stuff. But, customer service seems to be a lost art in America these days. Just try and call a big company anymore and all you get is some f*cking computerized menu.

But a few good words about our host. A few years back I was restoring my 67 GTO and placed an order with PY. When it arrived I was upset with the quality of a couple of items. I called and voiced my displeasure, no need to go into specifics. I didn't rant on them but I told them how I felt. About an hour later I get a call from Chris Cassperson (sp?). I had never met him but knew who he was. He was calling to talk about the problem with my order and he explained some things I didn't know. Bottom line, when I hung up the phone I felt that my concerns had been addressed and I had "been heard". I'd buy from PY again without a second thought.

I am in the process of purchasing and installing an interior and I settled on PY because they gave me the most information back on my initial inquiry.

Customer service has been good. I had to send an item back and got a fast credit on that. I recieved the wrong door panels the other day but they said send them back, they'll credit me shipping costs. The down side is I have to wait 4 weeks to get the assembled door panes.

Ed has been my rep and he has been very responsive. I give 2 thumbs up to PY and Ed.

You can always try to use a one of the parts houses that sells the Legendary line. That way if you run into trouble, you may get better sevrvice.

I like the idea about going to Tiger run and meeting up with the guy who took my order and telling him how things go when he's away. I'm going anyway but as a ride along in a very good friends 65 GTO. SO, better than going in my 03 expoloer.

This was a real dissapointing problem for me. Just like the porblem I have had with dash restoration from the Texas company. I had plans, and made sure before spending the money that I'd have plenty of time to have things ready. So, I took the words of these companies and have no problem with normal small problems or some items being a little late. The interior, is thincker than my decent factory interior. Color is dead on, and workmanship is very good. This is why it's so upseting. If someone had to ask me how I liked their product, I'd have to tell them it wornderful. BUt also that the service provided was like nothing I mayself have had to deal with before. BUt the rudness of the females who deal with problems, is almost an insult all itself. So, don't discount the product, but make sure everything is in writing like I did. And then when you have problems, take the paper it was writen on and shred it. Because, after I faxed the copy the guy who placed my order with. And also sent the samples along with. I was told that it was not his writing and that I was trying to get free shipping when I didn't have it coming to me. So in short, they really said I was forging this guys writing. I'm excited about having my chat with the nice guy who worked real hard with me. And, was very understanding of my questions. Thanks everyone. I have an order to place with our host in the next few days. And I always get great service. And, feel like I'm not only welcome, but also able to be honest if I don't know what I need or should have. That trust, is something money can't buy no matter how much you spend or how little. I, like that. There is so much I don't know, and so I have to ask the same people who are selling me these things. Good day and I'll write a little bit when I have a chance to meet the rep at Tiger run.

Mike and family ;)

I too just saw Legendary's new catalog. They are an upholstry company and yet it appears like they are trying to supply everything related to the interior of the car. They don't make any of these other items. Companies like PY, Ames etc have been dealing with all these accessory item suppliers for 20 years and I would suggest you leave all those type items to us. :)

Just thought I'd also mention that all of you are welcome to order your upholstry kits through PY regardless of whether it is Legendary or PUI. We are a distributor for both. Let us deal with the manufacturer run arounds.

Greetings, if you've been reading this post, you'll remember that I ordered a complete interior from Legadary back in December 2005. Cost was a little over $1500.00 and of course the service stinks although the product is very, very good.

Well, my last problem with them was about them sending me the wrong pattern of the sail panels. Everything was ordered in 67 red perforated which is corretc. But, they sent the sail panles in basketweave so they agreed to exchange them. However, it would be five weeks I was told until the new ones were shipped. I complained and moaned about how they wrre holding up my restoration and everything and that I was wanting to have the car ready for a show bla, bla. The didn't even aplogize for the mistake, but said they could only do what they could do. Well, five weeks turned into eight and then ten weeks and I got this tiny box from UPS. What they did, was send me a set of "early" 1966 sail panles. And of course they are not even lose to being the same as my 67. So, so far I've had them send me black items from my red interior, and now I get 1966 items for my 67 car. I called again and they were snotty, like there was just no way to make me happy. The woman whjo is in charge of customer service, needs to remember who the profit is and who the overhead is. If she was working for me and I found out, I'd find some way to clear her out, because she just angers me to the point I feel like sending everything back and filing a visa ® dispute for the stuff. over five months, when I was told and have it in writing that I would have everything in less than thirty days. I, am getting tired of these people really fast. The product is the best I've sen, but do I care if I have to deal with these kinds of people to get it? Nope, because they may be nice, but by far they are not the only game in town. So, if you decide to deal with this company, be prepared for having to deal with idiots that do not really know much about what they are selling you. And, if you do have a problem be prepared for having to bow down to someone who was not even a thought in their mamas mind, when these cars were being made. Or, when they started to become restored. I had to listen to her tell me that three items I wanted that were in their latest catalog, were not what I said they were. And, not what I wanted them for. I'm talking about the hinges for the sunvisors which were half price, if I also bought the visors at the same time. I gave page and item number and was told they were not for my car. OK, how about that. I learned that GM was wrong all these years and used the wrong hinges. Take care, and good day.

Sounds like an oddessy through a lot of cow dung.

Here's a punch in the guts for them. If you had to pay shipping on all the items, dispute it with the credit card companies (if you used a credit card). Detail your oddessy and send them a copy of the free shipping document you have.

They might have a considerable amount more arm-twisting ability than
John Q Consumer..... they'll just take the money out of what they owe the vendor and there'll simply be no argument.

I would also file a Better Business Bureau complaint for the BBB in their area and in my own.

The guy who suggested posting the sign about them at the show also had a good idea. Find the business, Try to GET YOUR REFUND THERE. If they say they will send you a check, get something in writing and have somebody witness it......and if it doesn't work out at all, then show them your sign.

If that still does not work, then show everybody else! Do your parts hunting first in case the show officials ask you to depart their event.

If things get to that point, and there's still no joy, about $20 worth of Photocopies detailing your plight handed out at the show might also do some good. Put a spot on the bottom with some check boxes about what people think the vendor should do for your situation and then tell them to give it to the vendor at the show!

Inform all the major GTO/ Pontiac clubs about it. A lot of them will probably have email addresses on the web. It'll get into newsletters and so forth too!

My only suggestion is to BE METICULOUSLY HONEST....AND BE SURE THEY HAVE NO WIGGLE ROOM ABOUT HOW SOMETHING GETS SAID... USE VERY PRECISE LANGUAGE AND THE MOST DETAILED CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS AND CHARGES YOU CAN PRODUCE. It will not only help make your case, it will convince others you are telling the truth.

I might also suggest you take receipts to the show plus a copy to give to the vendor. He might surprise you.... doesn't sound like it though....

Just a Suggestion

Guys, I am not taking the vendor's side and I'm not bailing them out on this as I do believe RR's experience was as explained. I personally have had customers complain about long lead times on deliveries but these issues extend beyond that. However, This topic has been up for several weeks with most of the Pontiac community reading it and if this was their normal practice, I think you'd see a lot more posts from other members. Representatives from Legendary are now aware of this topic so we'll see how they respond. Let's also wait to hear from additional members first hand experiences to determine if this is the normal course of business for them or just an isolated incident.

...at least the door panels were pre-assembled, roight?

Mine were not, despite my order. The factory did not want to do it, so THEY were more than glad to refund the difference. So I assembled door & 1/4 panels.

I just ordered a complete interior (and I mean every item) for my 69 GTO from PY. Most of my stuff has come in and seems to look good. I'm still waiting on several small items (dash, knobs etc.) but they told me up front that they would be back ordered. I am waiting on Legendary to get the 69 kits finished for the complete interior in my 69 Judge frame off. I should be able to give an honest comparison between the two after I get them.

Jim, I'm not saying you are inferring this, but I just want to make sure readers don't get sidetracked...........I don't think anyone is questioning the quality of these new interiors. I have seen them 1st hand and everyone that has seen them has agreed their quality is excellent. This thread is about their customer service and timeliness of delivery.

Mike, I hope they come thru for you. A nice "Gift Certificate" to compensate for some of the grief would be nice. Hang in.

Ccass, I feel a lot of guys (myself included) faced with this sort of problem end up doing nothing. I've had orders with wrong parts. Thinking of the hassle that awaits on the phone, you end up eating it. You look at it as the total cost of purchase.

The Olds guys are having problems with Legendary too. I was going to buy my interior from them to restore my 442 but after seeing how they treat their customers I don't think I'll be buying my interior from them. Here's the link to the olds board.

Chris and Mike, I believe there is a lot more to this story as I spoke to both Legendary reps at great length about this problem Tiger Run over Memorial Day. Either they told me a total lie or Mike needs to come forward and explain if anything has transpired. Mike, care to comment, ball is in you court? I would like to know if what they told me was/is true but it is your call, I have heard both sides, only one can be right, who is it?

Good morning friends. What I said in my first post about my problems with Legendary Interiors was true, and the facts as it happened. And, "AFTER" my posting the managment of Legendary read it and had a company meeting to find out what was going on with my order as well as my customer service problems.

After their meeting they contacted me via phone and explained, that they had no idea what was going on with my order or service problems. I was informed of the metting they had after reading my post. They were very polite and spent almost an hour with me on the telephone. Asking me questions, telling me how they would not have this problem ever again, and how they could make sure it never happened again.

And because of all the trouble I had the owner of Legendary, made an agreement to compensate me for my having had to go through all the problems and it taking so long for my order to get to me. I do not feel that it matters how I will be compensated so I will keep that to myself. And no, Legendary did not ask me to keep anything to myself. I, choose to do so since it was between myself and Legendary. I will say I believe it's fair. Nothing less and nothing more than their doing everything they can, to stand up and try to make it right with me.

I was planing on meeting with some of them at Tiger run but on the day before I was to leave with another friend, my brother passed away. And, I was in charge of dealing with everything. So, I was feeling really down, and had a huge amount of work to do. My wife made a call to Legenday for me (I was very upset about the death) and told them I would not be able to make Tiger Run and our metting. I was very busy for the next couple of weeks making sure, my late Brothers wishes were carried out. During that time I was contacted again my the managment, and told to take my time and get with them when I had a chance. And, I have since talked with them. And, the agreement between Legendary, and myself will take place soon.

Now, I want to say something here. First of all to Bob. Bob, I am very thankful for all the help you've been to me over the years. BUt, I feel as though you believed I was not being up front when in fact, I have been. No, I have not had much time, and not enough to really make a comment on this post. I also wanted to wait and make sure, that my aggreement with Legendary, did in fact take place. But, because of Bob's response, I felt I needed to address this matter and so here I am at 5:40 AM doing so.

Something everyone needs to keep in mind, is that it was because of my post that this matter was brought to the attention of the Owner and managment of Legendary to begain with. So, because of the post they became aware of a problem they didn't know they had. I believe they are very honest in saying that. Like I mentioned,, I talked with three of them at once, for almost an hour. Of course, it means that the problem I had should never happen to anyone now that it's been dealt with.

You can buy their product from our host, and had I knoww that in the beganing I would have considered it myself. I am not the only person who's had a problem with their service or even a product. But anything that' made by humans, will never be 100% all of the time. And, we should not expect it to be. So, all I can tell you is that I believe they are doing everything they can, to correct any problems they had, and this should not happen to others now that the owner and managment are aware of it.

Some of you may be thinking why didn't I juct contact them in the first place, and skip the persons who were not addressing the problems I was having over the months. Well, at first it was because they did pretty well with the first damaged item I got and sent another not long after that. But, as time went by and problems kept happening I did ask to talk with the person who worked with me on my order. But, I was told what I already knew, and that was that he was on the show circuit. When I asked to have his cell number, I was told it was not allowed to be given out. WHen I asked that he be contacted and to have him call me, I was told that he could not be reached and that I had to deal with the company. So, it was not like I just stood back and allowed this to happen. Reread the first post I made, and pay attention to what I said about my contact with them.

So, I believe Legendary is doing everything they can to correct a problem they don't want and at the same time are being fair as far as making things right with me. Will I use them again? Yes, and in fact I plan on ordering a complete kit for my 66 this next winter. And, I'm positive I will have no problems at all with the order. And, it's not because of the fact that Legendary has offered to compensate me. It's because I spent an hour talking with the owner, and two other people in the managment. And these people are good decent people, who take pride in their company, and the product they make.

Thank you for allowing me the time and space here. I hope you'll forgive me for not having time to respond or comment before now. I wish you all the best, and have a great summer.

Mike in Oregon

Mike, you are wrong that I assumed you had not told me everything, quite the opposite as you remember we talked about it at length when you were picking up parts. I am very happy for you that they are making it right with you for all you went through. They told me what they were going to do and it sounded so fair I almost didn't want to believe them until I heard it from you. As I have told others, their product looks closest to factory as I have seen and would like to use them if I need an interior for a car. Keep us all posted to the fact that they DO follow through and when they do tell all what they did for you, I won't it's yours to do. Guess I better put more parts on ebay so you'll come over again.

Also want to pass on some PR work I had to do involving them at Tiger Run. We had a big cruise-in at Murray - Holt Pontiac/GMC in Bend. The Murray - Holt people had cleared their entire used car lot for our cruise and burger feed. About halfway through the cruise, the Legendary guys show up and as I had talked with them earlier, they walked and started talking about my car. I was in the trunk getting a brew, one of the Legendary guys had a Mopar hat on. I stopped him dead in his tracks, said he couldn't be in the middle of and Pontiac dealership in the middle of a GTO cruise in. He asked why. I pulled the Mopar hat off, tossed it into my trunk, pulled out a GTO hat and made him wear it, then slammed my trunk shut with said Mopar inside. He kinda gets a funny look on his face and asks it he will get the Mopar hat back. Told him yes ............. in the morning at the meet. The other Legendary guy was laughing his a$$ off. The Mopar hat was returned at the show the next morning and they both were good guys who handled the PR work well.

IMOP, if you were to return it they will make sure what happened in myu case does not hapen to anyone else. I'd give them a chance. If you don't, then you can't blame them as you didn't allow them to correct it. And, nothing else being made will match their interior. Like Bob siad and I know for a fact. NOthng else is as close as Legendary. Mention your a member here it should get fast action as they watch this post. Mike

Without a doubt, I would use them again.

I work at a shop that almost exclusively does Mopar restorations. We use Legendary quite often. I have no complaints about quality, but we have our supply and communication issues, too. It's not just the Pontiac guys that have problems. For the second time in as many years, we just received another interior kit for a Dodge Challenger. Nice stuff, but it won't work in the 'Cuda convertibles we ordered them for.
