A coupe months ago I blew up my TH400 while racing. I went to TSI and spoke to the Don, the owner. He is a great guy, he spent a few hours of his busy day to answer my questions and show me around his shop. He is very proud of his work. He took a great deal of time to show me that type of parts that go into his transmission builds and why one part is better then the next. I found out he is a builder for many of the NMCA guys as their car pictures cover 4 full walls in his shop.

He took the time to look at my combo, cams specs, car weights, etc…. and told me that with the converter I am running I’m not getting much power to the wheels. We talked about advantages/disadvantages of the TH400, Gear Vendors and 700R4 etc….what I could expect with each on the street and strip, what power ranges they could handle and how much better the car would perform with one over the other.

I went with a 700R4 which he calls the “Pro Street Blue Printed 700R4” I picked up a Shifter Works detent conversion for my 67 his/hers and he got everything else. He spent a great deal of time and the quality of workmanship is excellent. He itemized a list of parts, each with prices that went into the transmission, about 20 or 30 lines full. Based on my rear, the 700R4 gave me almost a 4.56 rear. He explained the process of the rebuild and made sure I was aware of what he was doing and why he was doing it this way.

The overdrive is awesome, a 1,000 RPM drop. First, Second, Third are super firm and chirp the tires at part throttle. At full throttle, lays patches of rubber.

Performance is a HUGE difference, the car feels twice as fast, the engine seems more engaged and more in control over my old combo.

I can’t say enough about the high quality workmanship this company did. My car performs like I always wanted it to. He insisted that he take me for a ride and show me how everything worked. He hammered thru the gears, spinning tires and laying patches…..he would say “Man, that thing is wild”

I highly recommend this company and the owner Don. Good people, honest and highly experienced.
