Pete helped me identify my shifter via an email pic as the correct application for my car then rebuilt it (beautifully) and had it back within a week!
It shifts awesome! Great service all-around.
Highly recommended, http://www.precisionpontiac.com/

I guess I'm the black sheep in this crowd. I've never used Serio for anything, but he apparently does good work when he's paid. But as I said in my last correspondence with him, he'd better hope he's never in a position to want anything from me, because I wouldn't help him. I was hoping he would share one little piece of information about Hurst shifters with me- the correct positions of the two different thickness separator plates (Mr.Gasket/Hurst won't divulge such info). Instead of taking a half a minute and giving me the answer, he composed a full page dissertation on how good he is, how much time/effort/money he's invested in his trade, blah, blah, blah, and suggested I send him the shifter for rebuilding (which it doesn't need). This was after I explained to him that I'll never be a threat to his business- this is the only Hurst I ever took apart, and probably will be the last, and that I'm retired and not looking for any new livelihood. Thanks Pete.

Hmmm, you sure it wasn't the e-mail auto-responder he uses. I got the same 1-page description of his services, but I think that's just standard fare.

I emailed Pete several pics of the shifter I had rebuilt. We exchanged several emails. He identified the shifter to be the correct one for my application.
After he spent his time looking at my pics and answering my emails (all for free), I could have turned around and sent it to Hurst.
The last two things to mention is the excellent rebuild and SUPER fast service. He got it back to me in a week. Most of the work I have had done on the car/motor/etc. has been very slow.
A+ all-around for Pete's service.

I need someone to rebuild my dual gate - any advice?

Pete posted here in an old thread I started about how I tried to (Somewhat succesfully) to get my Dual Gate tighter. He is very helpful.
I had no issues with the Ratcheting mechanism or anything cosmetic..
He essentially said there are no "wear" parts in a dual gate that can be restored in order to tighten the shifter slop. The only points that wear adn affect the movement of the handle are the Hole in the shifter and the base of the shifter. The hole becomes larger and the base wears in a convex shape.
Both of those issues might be solved by wither welding up and filing down and then replating, or just some replating might thicken things up..
I used goofy things like a sticking DIME under the shifter to take up the clearance (it fit perfectly) and a plastic bushing from the hardware store in the hole..
It works well, but wont last I'm sure..
Now there are parts up top in the ratcheting mechanism that can become broken...But we didnt discuss that.

I recently emailed Pete with pics of 3 and 4 speed shifters for FS 65's. By doing that I discovered that there are two different sticks depending if you had buckets or bench seat. I had always been told that FS 65's only used one stick for all cars no matter what configuration. As it turns out, the better of the two sticks (not rusty) was the one I needed for my bench seat setup. Thanks Pete.
