those dirty bastards somehow made the checkout tricky, so you dont see how much the shipping is,, and now those retards are charging shipping prices by how much money the crap cost..

I think it is more that they want the average buyer to spend $300 with them. Is there shipping quote page not avalable on the order page?

first i typed all my shipping info in and sent that,,, then on the next page it had a drop down menu and i selected FedEx ground and thats the STD SHIP

no prices are anywhere on the page,, it may have had a link you would need to click on to see the rates. but i didn't click on it...


then on the next page it asked for my CC info, i didn't recall any total on that page,, because i would never have paid 28.00 to ship a starter motor.

24 hours passed and i was email the bill with the total explained.

i would have paid 15 or even 20 and not said anything but 28 bucks for a 8pound starter,, give me a break,, so basically im paying them over 20.00 to stick it in a box and ship it, come on.

I meant to post something about OPGI (a.k.a. Original Parts Group, Inc. for future keyword searches) the other week and this is as good as a place to do it I guess. I ordered a set of front wheel seals and a couple of control arm bumpers (upper) from them. Total, incl shipping? $44!!!! This was after I bitched and complained and they backed off $4 on S&H. 2 silly rubber bumpers and a couple of cheap seals which ended up deforming so I went to Napa to get real ones. I never would have bought from them in the first place but I couldn't find a place to source the bumpers locally and I wanted to get the car running for Memorial Day. I have never liked OPGI, and try as much as possible to avoid doing business with them. Just loook at their catalog, it is riddled with insincerity about the hobby and a bunch of mistakes from people that obviously do not know the make all that well. If you visit their facility, as I have, it is filled with attitude, lines are long with know-it-all Chevelle owners, and their margins are sky high. No wonder there were a couple of brand new high-end Mercedes S-classes in their parking lot. Nothing wrong with profit mind you, but don't gouge me or I will take my business elsewhere, which is what I will do from here on. I'll be sticking with PY and Ames.

I too can't stand the place. I'm am within 10 minutes of the place weekly, but I much rather shop from the other guys.

The worse thing about getting stuff from the east coast is it takes 10 days via ground shipping, and I procrastinate so I am often in a hurry.

I guess procrastination and impatience don't work well together. No wonder I'm such a mess :)

I've bought a few things from them, but prefer PY or Ames. I procrastinate also, so with 10+ day shipping I can procrastinate even longer.:D

My first order from OPGI took almost 3 weeks to get to me. Bear in mind I live about 50 miles from them, I could have walked to their store and back in 3 weeks. It's possible though that was a FedEx mistake. After about 10 days of waiting I tracked my package and found it in Illinios. I just figured they shipped my parts via Route 66.
Never had anymore problems with them, just prices too high.

My Experience with them caused me to refer to them as "Out of Parts Group" about 8 years ago I ordered several different parts from them, half the order was backordered, (simple stuff like window cranks, door handles, outside dual mirrors) instead of holding everything till the backorders were filled, then send it to me, (like I asked them to) I got 3 or 4 separate shipments and charged 10 to 15 bucks shipping on each one of them! last time I dealt with them! and would only do so again if they had something that PY or Ames didn't offer!.

I had one dealing only with OPG. NEVER AGAIN! Several years ago I ordered a front and rear sway bar and the cardboard piece that fits behind the back seat. They told me they had everything in stock and would ship right away. They wanted oversize frieght on the sway bars. They wouldn't ship both sway bars in one box so I had to pay oversize frieght on both. 3 weeks later only one sway bar showed up. 4 weeks after that the other one showed up. I called them several times during that time and they kept telling me that the stuff is here but we have to check it in and it would ship out monday. Finally after 3 months, I got all that I ordered but only after about 5 phone calls where they kept telling me the stuff needs to be chacked in and then they could ship. But wait a minute, when I ordered the stuff, they told me everything was in stock! They are nothing but a bunch of liars if you ask me. They tell you what you want to hear just to keep an order. A friend of mine went to their store and said they have a huge warehouse for Chevy parts and a small closet for Pontiac parts! I forgot how much I paid for shipping but it was rediculous! Never again will I deal with these crooks. Oh, yeah, the sway bars each came in boxes big enough to put 5 sway bars in.

Shipping is insane. I was going to get a package tray from Ames and they wanted $35 to ship it. I know the trays are big but it is getting crazy. Ebay is known for outrageous shipping. My nephew, 16 bought some lights for his truck off ebay. 4.99 sounded like a great deal, what he did not see is the $40 shipping fee. It's just stupid and now he has a negitive feedback.

I haven't bought anything from OPG, but years ago B4 i found this and other sites, i tried to get a catalog from them...took almost a month!

There were other subtle signs also, their web site was "in process" for over a year..."coming soon".

Guy at work here has a GTO and hasn't had a problem with them, but I don't really know what he's ordered.

This thread confirms my suspicions..there are other competitive suppliers like PY to use rather than waste my time and money with OPG.

They don't seem to have any problems supplying parts to the TV shows tho.

I just wish they were on the east coast so I wouldn't use their proximity for considering them.

And to the comments about them supplying Foose and Co...I imagine they only agree to build a car after they check with OPGI and find out what parts they may actually have.
