Missing 8-lug brake drums, sent to Barry Riehl in Unadilla NY

Any help? Looking for the brake drums sent to Barry Riehl in Unadilla NY nine mounths ago! The check was cashed, now they won't even answer the phone! Any help?

I wouldn't go up there in them mountains looking for trouble. That place is like West Virginia.

hadapontiac, just chalk it up brother. Who knows they might show up if you leave it alone.

In the mean time I would scrap all that aluminum drum stuff, it didn't work then and it doesn't work now.

I speak from my own experiences on my 64 Bonneville. I have the Scarebird disc brake set up and its makes such a fantastic difference over the aluminum drums. This also open up the world of new and vintage mag wheels to you.
A front disc conversion along with a Lee B body 12 to 1 box is all that car needs to blow these new cars into the weeds going around bends.

Jeff...do you just have the disc brake conversion on the front or on all four wheels. I am seriously considering this change on my 66 4dr hdtp this winter and was wondering if there really is much to gain by doing the back wheels or is the biggest bang for the buck in doing the front end?

P.S. About 20 years ago I lived within 10 miles of Unadilla! Unfortunately, I was not yet into collecting Pontiacs (or perhaps I should say fortunately!!) therefore I never knew Roger or anything about his business. There definitely is a bunch of hillbillies up there! Part of the Appalachian foothill hillbillies! Don't bend over! :eek:

I kept the rear drums, they are 11" on the B bodies and work well.
I used a adjustable proportion valve on the rears and it great.

True Story.... Friend of mine had till recently a '65 Bonneville Convertible with 8 lugs. They were shot to bits so at HUGE expense he airmailed the whole set to our mate, the late Roger Rabbit, and eventually got them back. I might also add that he was impressed with the job RR had done on my front drums......(They shortly afterwards went oval:mad: )

Before he had the car finished from a re-build, he received a telephone number offer for the car. Common sense prevailed and he sold the car. New owner promply went bad financially and it was on-sold.

Now finished, the present owner apparently suffered a massive delamination on one front drum and at high speed. The whole internal lining tore out. :eek: Fortunately the car was brought to a safe stop but that car is going nowhere till he gets new drums. I'm also told that another drum is showing signs of delaminating

For my own part, I'm using the standard drums off my '65 Bonneville till my new drums from Arrowhead eventually get here.......

Relining of drums is not exactly rocket science as it is a somewhat common practice on heavy equipment drums. It sounds like these guys really didn't know what the heck they were doing.

I live about 25 miles from Unadilla, i wish i could help you out but i won't fly over Unadilla in a plane. There is a mean nasty bunch of rednecks down there that i just won't mess with.

If you go in there looking for them you may never come out, even the State Troopers don't want to go to Unadilla.

Hadapontiac, you get an answer yet on the drums? If I can I'll help you track him down. My cousin is the Town Supervisor and he'll go knock on his door if you send me the address.

My hometown is Unadilla, NY so don't badmouth it RW! It's not as bad as many other places in this country are. Stop thru there sometime and I'll have some relatives there to meet you. You might be surprised how nice the people in Unadilla are.

It must be the name, b/c there is a Unadilla, GA, too. And you wouldn't want to have 8-lug brake trouble (or any other kind of car trouble) in Unadilla, GA either! LOL!!!!

Gee, when I lived north of there, I bought a snowmobile from a guy in Unadilla a few years ago. Didnt notice the numbers werent exactly the same on the registration as the frame. Tried to get in touch non working number. Took a ride, the house door was wide open and very vacant. Sled turned out to not be on any lost or stolen reports and was able to register but always wondered what was up with that deal. Probably the same guy or related. The area between Binghamton Syracuse and Utica was notorious hideout for bad guys in the late 1800's. I think some of the families are staying with tradition. People could disappear forever there.

I do know some of the best deer hunting in NY is around the Unadilla, Sidney, and Gilbertsville areas. I biggest buck I've ever seen, with at least a 16 point rack, was on the mountain next to the Rt 7 and Rt 8 intersection in Sidney. That same day I sat and watched over a hundred deer climb back up the mountainside after getting their morning drink from the Susquehanna River. That was a real pretty sight.... but they were all does. Never spotted a buck amongst them at all. It's no wonder I-88 from Oneonta to Binghamton always has a bunch of roadkill. Almost as bad as sections of I-81 in Pennsylvania.

A lot of my friends from up in Northern NY traveled to that area every year for a week deer hunting. And all of them always came back with a good sized buck, and a doe if they had a doe permit.
